McDonald's Tries to Help Its Minimum Wage Workers

ELC must avoid McDonalds if he thinks only high schoolers work there. I avoided it before getting married and having kids so I understand.

I, sir, am a fast food junkie...or was until I hit 40. Now all I do is buy fast food salads.

But, my bad. High schoolers, immigrants (usually women making a supplemental wage to their husband's), and ex cons who can't work anywhere else. I'm talking about the dipshit positions, not the manager ones. C'mon, dude. They cook shit, put it under a heat lamp, or take an order. It isn't rocket science. It's monkey work, and if somebody is in a position like that having to support a family, then 99% of the time it's their own damn fault. The other 1% it's because they have some kind of brain damage, in which case they should be drawing disability to supplement their income.

It's better than the national chains, but I've never understood the cult.

Me neither now that it's here in Texas. Good burgers-- sloppier to eat than a whore's syphilitic pussy-- but certainly nothing mindblowing.

Man, ELC really trying his damndest to get some sort of reaction from anyone.

Someone please give him some attention.

I don't give two shits about getting attention from any of you eggheads. Just spouting hard truths as usual. Jeez, like you should talk. You start almost as many dopey threads as RJ. And your threads are worse because they're always some kind of touchy feelie gay bullshit. At least RJ is just a flat out predictable communist.

Yup, I'm gonna have to agree with dv7's "cunt" assessment on this one.

ELC needs a dictionary. Each time I met him in Dallas I was in his city to work on a project to expand or create a private company which would be kind of odd for a communist.

What's the big deal here?
So yeah, McDonald's comes across as tone def with that budget and some ridiculous assumptions, but at least it's an effort to help, even if it's just to illustrate that making ends meet at McDonalds is going to be tough.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the bigger issue is the one that 923 brought up. Taxpayers are essentially subsidizing McDonald's business plan (along with any other company with minimum wage jobs) while they make big money. What (if anything) can be done about it? What should be done about it?

Don't subsidize.

Let them eat Big Macs.

It would really help unemployment if people didn't have to work two minimum wage jobs to make ends meet.

cant wait for people to tell his kids "sorry, you should have done better in your publec school. maybe your parents should have taught you the importance of an education. oh they werent around? well maybe they should have learned better in their public school."

i feel like that's a good segue to a comparison of income mobility in countries with varying approaches to education and more generous minimum wages.

Sadly that assumes America cares about income mobility. As long as the myth exists, we're cool.

I am curious how the work harder and bootstraps narrative works for people who 2 jobs.
