We'll never how god a QB he could be. He plays for Lobo. How many QBs has Wake had transfer and become great? We ask Prince to play when we have done nothing to improve our OL since 2006. He has not had an opportunity to be good and he has received ZERO help from the staff. Remember the staff did not want Skinner-- he was an after thought. So how good os the staff at evaluating QB talent? Not very good. If they had had their way Skinner never would have been on the field. Injuries forced them to play him. I just have completely lost any confidence in our offensive coaches. So we'll never know how good Price could have been
I think he meant transfer from our program and be good. The only one I can think of under this regime is Zac Taylor, or if you're really stretching, Mauk.
And Taylor was here under Troy Calhoun.
He was on the roster during Lobo's early years as OC. He's actually the Dolphins' QB coach. Crazy.
I'd call Mauk and Hodges good QBs at their new destinations as well.
Didn't Hodges transfer to Coastal Carolina? Go fish...
If Price can't be trusted to do the right thing, it's on the coaches. He's a three year starter and he's been under the same coaches the whole time.
Hodges transferred to UCF. Completed 59.9% of his passes for 2,438 yards, 17 TDs, 13 INTs. Led them to a 8-5 record and a bowl game.
Zach MacDowall transferred to Coastal Carolina. Looks like he was solid for them as a dual threat guy.
That is nothing I've ever heard.
As it is, he moves to an offense in 2013 that he is real familiar with.
Himebauch is in year 2 -- he's not Rasputin - but he is making really solid strides in conditioning and weight training. I mean the guy is a good coach -- he would have been the Offensive Coordinator for Montreal -- which is pretty good stepping-stone.
Anyway, guys like Turtle Hayworth and Smith have really improved their shuttle times, stamina and strength. I also like the way Himebauch teaches. I mean the guy has his own pedigree and style -- it means something to have been a 3 starter at USC and a team Captain for the Trojans. Anyway, I like the spirit on display.
Side note: Steven Chase was looking good at a recent workout. He started at 6:00 am with a quick set of 10 benches at 325 pounds for a warmup.
Steve is a big guy...but he is not 6'6. I'd say he is 6'4 and 1/2 and about 305-310. He is looking healthier all the time. Two months back he competed in a weight-stand pull against Zach T. and he was anchored in and really going at it.
It will be a huge boon to have Chase closer to 100% as opposed to the 75-80% mobility he played with last year.
Two keys,IMHO,will be Whitlock and Chase both playing at or near 100% as opposed to the 80 last season. A big difference now is the availability of a dedicated and fast improving "Thor" backing Chase and Spring standout Garcia and Lewinson to keep Whitlock from burning out at the end of games.
That staff sure can spot kids under the radar,eh?
Grobe and staff had a very impressive streak identifying QBs. I think every QB they recruited end up being a regular starter at QB or another position (Morton and Bruce Hall at Ole Miss) until a few years ago. I thought it was Stachitas but then I saw he transferred to Millersville University and was the starter there.
Skylar Jones backed up at Memphis when he transferred I'm pretty sure.
I'm not sure that Stachitas or Sky Jones should be counted as successful recruits by this staff. McDowell was a walk-on I believe, so Coastal wasn't a bad spot for him to end up.
What was the scoop on Jones? Great athlete that didn't like getting hit (so insisted on staying at QB) or just a below average QB?
