No, you really dont. And out of respect for all concerned, we will leave it at that ...
Devin and CMM were selected to represent us for ACC Media Day.
The muted resentment of McKie by BabyDeac is one of my favorite under the radar OGBoards things.
You've been saying this stuff about Travis for over a year now. Can we get some elaboration?
No, let's not. You can occasionally tell from Travis' body language on the court that he's not buying into Buzzdick, so Baby75's hints make sense. Travis also looks frustrated out there and isn't giving 100% at times. So I have no problem with Buzzdick not giving him the C - it makes sense. That said, I hope Travis is working hard on his shot and game this offseason and plays hard this year, even if he is disregarding Buzzdick. He has talent and has a very nice career in Europe ahead of him. He looks like he needs to get the joy back, and that's understandably hard to do with Buzzdick as your coach.
Moonz, I don't get your hatred of our players. They seem like good kids, Travis included, and there are no Walkers or Tabbs out there. And there's a modicum of talent with this group. With the exception of Washington, the sophs are at least ACC caliber players, Thomas is developing into a stud, and McKie is good. We have a lot of nice role players and are just lacking star power and coaching. I don't blame the players that we are the worst FG% defensive team in the ACC every year, just like Colorado was under Buzzdick. If you gave Tony Bennett these kids, you'd at least have a .500 team in conference and be playing in the NIT.
What is sad is that after three years of doing the things the 'right' way Bz hasn't been able to mold Travis into the kind of young man that he feels is worthy of captain.
The blame doesn't fall on Travis. Think about that and then remember Josh Howard as a freshman with little direction, and the kind of man he became under Skips love and tutelage.
College basketball players are almost always spoiled brats as freshman because their whole life people are sucking up to them, telling them how good they are, and bailing them out when they act improperly. It takes a leader to help them move from childhood to adulthood. Kids are going to be kids. It is the coach's responsibility to lead them in the right direction.
Listen, baby Jesus, it's a horrible team and we are going to get killed.
Stop deluding yourself.
We suck and will never reach the Odom/Prosser/Dino years again.
Wellman and Buzz have killed this program. It's as dead as Skip.
I don't hate our players. They just don't belong in the ACC.
"I've sat in on lectures about this new generation. OK, what really makes them think the way they do, and how best can I bring out the best in them? It was different when I grew up in the 60s. I walked into practice the other day. I love Stevie Nicks. And Travis (McKie) or somebody asked me 'Coach, what did you do last night?' I said Stevie Nicks was on TV, I was watching her. She's 65. And he goes 'Who?' So, my point is, it's just different."
