Willing to take on a few Hoops Bets @ 17.5

I'm guessing we will beat Cuse or Duke and then get Tech, BC, and Clemson/FSU (drop one of them). That's 18 right there even without a road win.

8-1 at home in-conference and then a win against State/Maryland/Miami would give us 19 wins and 10-8 in the conference.

Can I have some of what you are smoking? We don't beat Duke or Cuse.

Now who's LOWF?

I doubt we beat Syracuse, but Duke is barely ranked and it's a home game at the end of the season. The Miami and NC State home wins last year were probably tougher than they'll be, plus we only lost by 5 to Duke at home last year when they were a top 5 team. Notre Dame already beat them and we just beat Notre Dame.

Duke has 9 Top 50 recruits. We have....0. I just don't see it.

Quick - how many true road wins does Duke have this year?

One.

They're might be about to drop consecutive road games to Pitt and Syracuse as well.

Yea, I don't get where this hero worship of Duke and Syracuse comes from. These aren't the 95-96 Chicago Bulls. In Syracuse's last 2 ACC road games, Boston College had the lead with 8 minutes to play, while Miami had the lead with just over 6 minutes to play. Syracuse's only other ACC road game was @ VT, which represented the only ACC game yet this year in which Syracuse has topped 70 points (they scored 72).

Is it likely that beat Cuse and/or Duke? Of course not. But we need to come to grips with the fact that although our coach may suck, our team does not.

Facepalm

We COULD beat Syracuse. They're by all accounts a top 5 team no matter who you talk to though and undefeated. They're a legitimate threat to win the title.

Duke is between 10-15 in the country IMO but they're not great on the road.

Wake has a lot of confidence at home and has a legitimate shot to beat one of them. I think we're going to come out pumped on Wednesday. That may cut positively or negatively depending on if we have TOO much adrenaline, but Wake certainly has a shot to beat one of them.

I would think we're more likely to beat Duke than Syracuse since Syracuse isn't just going to let Devin stand at the top of the key all day to break down the 2-3 zone like ND's makeshift zone did.

I still have faith in Bzz to fold down the stretch and finish 2-9 (we beat GT and BC at home).

Wake is probably equally as likely to win 16 games as they are to win 20. Maybe a slight better chance to hit 20. I think Wake wins 18 or 19 in the regular season.

Cuse is too big and strong for us. We have no one to cover Fair. Ennis is much better than Madison. Coron is our only outside shooter against their zone.

Exactly whom do we have that can cover either Hood or Parker? Codi will try hard against Hood, but he's 4" shorter.

There's no hero worship. It's simply match-ups and depth of teams.

Why the hell would Codi be guarding Hood?

Duke might be one of those games when having multiple 6'6"-6'7" guys comes in handy.

Syracuse is always capable of a terrible and baffling performance

You have consistently been way off on your predictions for this year. Going back and reading all of your absolutes (e.g., we aren't beating Carolina) it!'so remarkable you haven't learned a thing about this team ... Or yourself

Cav needs 15+ for us to beat cuse. He is the key there.

Duke won't be able to handle devin easily. The last plumper is a stiff and a Jefferson has underwhelmed. Moto should play a lot on Parker.

So Rj mark this down: cav important against cuse. Moto important against duke. Mckie important in both

Still feel fairly confident that this will come down to winning both the Clemson and FSU games at home. Given the caliber of teams we have beaten in conference and the way that those games have gone, I still don't think there is another win coming up on the road. When making the bet, I was assuming another 0-fer year on the road, so obviously one more would all but assure that Jaybone gets paid again.
