2014 FB Recruiting Thread: Signing Day is this Wednesday!

Could be wrong, but I think starting yesterday, we are in a dead period where coaches cannot contact recruits (IIRC, recruits can still contact coaches).
The college coach cannot make in-person contact with the recruit or their family. However, once per week, the coach can initiate contact by phone with the recruit or their parents. The recruit would need to call the coach for subsequent contact.

You are wrong. Coaches can still contact recruits during a dead period.

This is the serious danger zone time. All those coaches who had recruits flip are not going to let go easily. Also, there will be coaches calling some of the Wake verbals with lines like "he doesn't really respect you. See who else he offered at your position. Come sign with us."

Thanks for the corrections about the meaning of dead period!

The N&O a few minutes ago did not list Harris as receiving a football scholarship, with Wake or any place else. I wonder why.

If true, that would open up another spot for a last minute surprise.........

Only guys I could see leaving would be Ricks or Kemp and we aren't even sure on Ricks yet. I wouldn't mind losing him either.

Ricks is recruitment is a mystery. He did not visit WF after Clawson was hired (or at least I found no record of Ricks visiting). He is not listed as a WF commitment in the Scout database. I checked the Tidewater, VA newspapers and could only find that he might visit Delaware and some HBCUs. I found no affirmative statement that he was still committed to WF or that he was not; only that he was considering his options. If I had to guess, Ricks will not be signing with WF, but it is only a guess.

I think the surprise Dekin is alluding to would be a guy who is currently regarded as a long shot signing with Wake on Wed. Not someone jumping ship at the last minute. I suspect there are still a few offers out there for guys the coaches really, really want. But they are hat pickers.

We had a bunch of guys the old staff were after and haven't heard from since. Most of the postings have been for '15. There were no postings of Yarbary's visit or that we were recruiting him, until this morning. Who knows what will happen over the next 24 hours.

GATES GATES GATES GATES

Scout still has the three highest rated recruits with any Wake interest on the board. Two are top 15 at their respective positions. These three are rated higher than anybody currently verballed to Wake. They have pretty impressive interest lists, and Wake has offered. There are several more top 100 at their position guys with Wake interest and offers listed as well. Gates is not among those I alluded to - probably because he has verballed elsewhere.

The people want Gates. You've gotta give the people what they want.

So Clawson silently dropped Lemar Harris? If so, good move. Class is a bad reason to give a kid a scholarship that could go to a more deserving kid.

Where are you seeing this Ph

By my count I have 27. It includes Jaboree and Luedeke (early-entries) and Harris & Ricks (WF commit status unknown). 2012 had 25 commits but multiple enrolled early and should have been rolled into the previous season, so the two early entry guys would count against 2012. Which brings the total to somewhere between 23-25 depending on the statuses of Harris and Ricks.
