Keep Randolph as assistant!

FWIW, the least experienced guy on GT's bench has 10 years of assistant coaching experience (7 before being hired at GT). The least experience guy on Clemson's bench has 10 years assistant coaching experience (6 before being hired at Clemson).

Rusty recruited haas. Pretty big oops on his part to get snookered at the last minute by painter. Just shows his inexperience.

Coupled with his background as a coach and AD - Rusty's resume is really thin. For as little experience as Chill has, Rusty is hardly experienced.

Lets not forget that Calhoun is infinitely better than [Redacted]. Ollie was groomed to take over once Jim retired. Childress? Hasn't been groomed to do anything.

22, why do you not want Chill to get some HC experience? Why are you so opposed to it?

If that's what Chill wants to do. I think he could help us as an assistant but I'm sure Chill would have to want to stay and DM want him on the staff. I hope it works out but maybe it won't .

Possible Assistant Coach Situation mentioned in article?

While Manning hasn't divulged his plan for the assembly of a Wake Forest staff, it is believed that four of his Tulsa staff members —— assistants Brett Ballard and Steve Woodberry, director of operations Justin Bauman and strength-and-conditioning coach Ryan Horn —— will join him in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Interesting that he is bringing in his own S&C coach. I was wondering what would happen with Brittenham, as he was brought in specifically for bball, but by Bz.

I believe Danny Manning will be calling his own shots. Hopefully RW learned very valuable lessons from messing with his last 2 head coaches and telling them who they had to let go & who they had to keep.

I was pretty disappointed with how most of the players developed physically over the past three seasons. No loss if we replace this guy, imo.

There is so much "WTF" in this post. Jesus Christ man take off your Chill homer glasses. In your rush to hire Chill you are staking out some pretty ridiculous positions.

Manning apparently is wearing the homer glasses, too.

Reading comprehension is important old man. I stand by my post. You may be incapable of nuance but others are not. Whether or not Childress will be a good assistant does not change the facts that 22's post stating that experience was not important and implying that coaching basketball is not hard to do (its not "rocket science" according to him) was asinine.

Chill knows the guard game, is a legendary Deac and will be an asset on the recruiting trail. Manning kept him for a reason and it wasn't Wellman.

There was a pecking order last year. Chill was last on it.

There will be one this year, but much more will be expected of him.

I think that Wellman's hands have been tied by Hatch and the BoT as a result of the Buzz disaster. His behavior around the hire was simply inexplicable and irresponsible. Most everyone could see that. Wellman may have been told by higher ups to get better student athletes into the program but Buzz with his losing and apparent arrogant incoherence was not what the powers that be had in mind. And the resulting financial losses were certainly not what they had in mind. So, Wellman was told to get rid of Buzz, and he was not given a free hand in the hiring of replacements for Grobe or Buzz. Wellman has been allowed to stay on, to appear publicly to be formally making the hires, and until he finishes his stint with the NCAA selection committee. Then, he will be honorably retired. This way, the leadership probably believes, is - under the circumstances - the least embarrassing possible alternative for the university and for them. And oh yeah, they probably told Wellman to shut up and say as little in public as possible.

The big questions now become who will replace Wellman and what changes will be made in the athletic department to get Wake athletics into the 21st century? How can we create athletic programs that can compete successfully at the highest levels and still be a part of a top national university? Wellman and LOWF are obviously not the answer. Stay tuned.
