Holder to Resign

I don't think it was a failure. I just want to know when, if ever, something has been Obama's fault.

Think he has done a lot of great things but eventually you have to stop blaming the guy that came before you. Will Hillary get to keep blaming Bush?

You don't pay attention. I've posted many things Obama has done wrong. He butchered the messaging on HC. As I've said many times on this thread, it's disgraceful that Wall Street, mortgage brokers and bankers aren't doing long stretches for their crimes.

Obama didn't use the bully pulpit enough. He didn't challenge the GOP on many issues that the public agreed with him on. He also didn't put a pro in as is Chief of Staff and relied on Valerie Jarrett too much.

However, he had no play to close GITMO and you know it. Whether you like it ore not the two main reasons he couldn't do it were the crimes committed by the former Administration (including torture) and the cowardice of the GOP (and some Dems).

You are way too smart not to know this is the case about GITMO.

These are completely false. The bully pulpit basically doesn't exist you should familiarize yourself with some poli sci.

The bully pulpit does exist. POTUS can energize the public and get things done.

Using concept like Reagan trying to change the public's view on Iran Contra, which was illegal and immoral, defeats the premise.

Then he used other issues like Iraq and Social Security which the public greatly disagreed with the POTUS on.

If you read what I said ,"Obama didn't use the bully pulpit enough. He didn't challenge the GOP on many issues that the public agreed with him on. "

The basic concept of the HUFFPO article is canned and predictable. The picked issues that the public hated and would never change their mind on. What I proposed was the opposite.

*coughs*

So it is either Bush's fault or Congress's fault. Everybody got their talking points? Okay, hope and change on three...BREAK!

The Obama Administration will close with Iran having a nuclear weapon. But keep talking about how he simply failed to challenge Congress on even more things that people agreed with him on. How do the fact dispensing gnomes in the parallel universe you in live account for the fact that his wild popular support you daydream about cost him control of the House (and will of the Senate by his Presidency's end)? Good grief, Charlie Brown.

"There's two sorts of lawyers that assume roles like attorney general and White House counsel," the former Justice Department official said. "Those who think of themselves as lawyers first and politicians second, and those who reverse the two. If you look at Eric, he's probably in the latter."

IMO, attorney generals should think of themselves lawyers first.

Just to touch on the idiocy of that fucking Iran weapons comment again - the IAEA (again, reminder - vadtoy is a policy officer for that agency in the Safeguards Division) has confirmed that Iran has downblended all of their enriched Uranium (which was at 20%) down to 5% or lower in accordance with the agreement from last year that is still in place.

Now, there's TONS of issues with Iran. The Agency is hounding them on a number of things and their intentions are shaky at best (realistically - they want to be Japan or Germany, not in possession of a weapon but able to "race" to one if they need it). However, right now they literally DO NOT HAVE THE RAW MATERIAL TO MAKE A BOMB, OR THE ABILITY TO RAPIDLY ENRICH TO DO THAT. They gutted years of enrichment progress last year. They could say tomorrow "fuck you, we're making a bomb" and they would take months and months to even begin to have enough material to make a single bomb. This shit is very easy to track (it's nearly impossible to hide enrichment). The biggest problem with Iran is, and has been, the fact they were enriching large amounts of nuclear material to have around "just in case" they decided to race to making a bomb. By effectively destroying that stockpile, the timeline for them has been massively extended. The goal is to keep Iran (like any country) with a minimum 6 month "breakout" timer - something that gives plenty of time for the international community to react. Iran is within that range right now - even the worse case estimates have them at least 4 months away from just the raw material barrier, let alone design/construction.

Sanctions and diplomacy are working in that case. International pressure has been successful in dulling the threat and slowly bringing Iran back into line in terms of their treaty obligations. THIS IS WORKING THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE. Alarmist, uninformed horseshit doesn't help the situation at all. Iran had a full blown weapons development program that they shut down around 2003. We all know that. The IAEA is hammering them for answers on a number of details about that program, which Iran has been reluctant to talk about (in the end I think they will get an amnesty for that, in agreement for more concessions and the ability to not have to disclose it publicly - much like Yugoslavia with their weapons program). But in the 10 years since that has been shut down, the global community has done their job in detoothing and slowly dismantling that program.

In the face of this does jhmd admit he was talking out of his ass, or does jimmy rustling commence.

I think pretty much everyone knows what vadtoy does - she worked for the National Nuclear Security Administration before, and now is with the IAEA in Safeguards. She's literally "an expert" in the development of nuclear weapons and what the global community does to watch and secure nuclear material globally.

The amount of disinformation in the public press (btw - Israel has done a fantastic job with this) with regards to the Iran situation is amazing. It's faaaaaaaaaar from perfect, but it's also fucking a million miles away from where idiots like jhmd are placing it. Right now, it's a great example of how peaceful diplomacy on a global scale is supposed to work - it's not perfect, and nobody likes to see sausage being made, but it's slowly having an affect.

Does she get invited to Hans Blix's Christmas party?

Here's a summary of the IAEA's July report on Iran's breakout capability, and the severe damper put on it by the downblending / conversion of their nuclear stores:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/20/us-iran-nuclear-iaea-idUSKBN0FP0LW20140720

And here's the full September report:

http://isis-online.org/uploads/isis-reports/documents/gov-2014-43.pdf

Contrary to the relevant resolutions of the Board of Governors and the Security Council, Iran has
not suspended all of its enrichment related activities in the declared facilities referred to below.
However, since 20 January 2014, Iran has not produced UF6 enriched above 5% U-235 and all of its
stock of UF6 enriched up to 20% U-235 has been further processed through downblending or
conversion. All of the enrichment related activities at Iran’s declared facilities are under Agency
safeguards, and all of the nuclear material, installed cascades, and feed and withdrawal stations at
those facilities are subject to Agency containment and surveillance.

And btw - the time to panic about all this is when Iran declares that it is withdrawing from the NPT, ala North Korea in 1993. That's the general "welllllll, fuck you guys" sign. Iran doesn't seem to be interesting in being a true pariah state ala North Korea, so they will keep playing this game through diplomatic channels, it seems as much for their own domestic audience as anything else.

Great Moments in Narcissism...

P.S. http://grammar.yourdictionary.com/style-and-usage/affect-effect-grammar.html

Vad and vadtoy totally James Bond role play in the bedroom. There's no way around it.

You, of all people, want to play that card?

Presuming that people know what my wife does for a living based upon self-anointed excellence of my posts? Yeah, I'm alright saying that that's pretty narcissistic.
