Devin

Who is JMM again? Is that Codi's brother, Jodi?

By the same #samplesize token though, NBA teams aren't exactly gonna double and triple him either.

Honestly, I didn't even watch Delaware State game so I don't know what happened but I thought they had 1 big dude that gave Devin fits.

Their big guy had 8 blocks. People need to chill on the 2 game sample, and just let the season play out.

Maxiell is strong like bull and is surprisingly quick off the ground for a dude his size. Also a much more confident jump shooter (and was in college).

Oh okay. Yeah, that's not a good comparison.

The Booker comparison makes sense. Develop a set outside shot and Devin could spend some time in the League as an energy bench guy. He has pretty elite speed at his size and weight. Some of the other guys mentioned in the thread were scorers in college who couldn't translate to the league at their position. Devin scores streaking to the basket a lot and is a fundamentally solid rebounder. That should translate a little better than a pure position player who's limited at that position, like Big E or McAdoo.

Booker is like the Mike Tolbert of the NBA

Comparing Devin to Taj Gibson is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. They have barely any similarities in their games, and their build is also nothing alike.

Nobody compared Devin to Taj Gibson, I compared McAdoo to Taj Gibson.
But I would make a similar statement about comparing McAdoo to Devin (which was my point). They have barely any similarities in their games, and their build is also nothing alike.

You don't think Devin is a pure position player (PF) limited at that position? He sure as hell isn't playing C or SF.

Big E not a bad comparison for Devin as both have limitations and suck on the FT line (E even worse than DT.) Williams score more points but also benefited from better supporting cast and played more minutes. However, Thomas is a much better rebounder and on ball defender IMO.
Any potential in the pros for DT will be based on his aggressive, physical play and rebounding. See Reggie Evans.

He isn't limited at that position because he cannot do at least one of the things absolutely necessary for that position (rebound, score on the low block one one on) like those two. Devin can do both of those. Big E couldn't rebound and McAdoo couldn't do either one with anyone between him and the basket, both of which are pretty critical for a PF.
Whether Devin can do both of those at an NBA level remains to be seen, but Big E and McAdoo's limitations were evident at the college level.

Devin isn't much of a score on the low block type. He pretty much sucks at post ups. He is a marginally better rebounder this year than McAdoo, but McAdoo was a marginally better scorer.

Big E was more of a pure power player than Devin. Devin has developed more post moves and is more athletic away from the basket. Devin should never be compared to JMM.

Which is one reason why he could fare better at the next level than undersized PFs who were strickly post ups.

Do you watch basketball? Devin doesn't suck at post ups. It's the source of his game. He's developed the ability to put it on the floor from FT line distance and take it to the rack. But he's not a face-up 4, mostly because he hasn't developed enough of a mid-range J to do that effectively.
