Seriously? This is one of those arguments where you can tell the theorist has done little field research.

Participating in homosexual activity is often a choice for lots of people. Lots of people out there can and do choose to bang people of different sexes for a myriad of reasons.

Hot chicks making out in bars garner lots of positive attention.

Good looking dudes often lead on older gay men with ca$hish to get all sorts of shit, just like younger women do.

Sure there are lots of 'I was born this way' ppl who can only stomach to suck on their first choice of genital, but for other people its just all part of the game, homes.

Certainly someone can choose to be/live as a homosexual. I also believe that people are born homosexual.

Why can't it be both?

Attraction isn't generally considered a choice, a heterosexual acting person might choose to act on homosexual attractions and impulses that they had previously been denying, but that would make them bisexual, not homosexual. That's not even getting into the fact that sex itself does not prove or cause sexual orientation. Many gay porn actors identify as heterosexual.

Im not talking about acting homosexual at spring break, Im talking about living as a homosexual. Why can't a person choose that? How can you advocate for homosexuals and in the same breath dictate who qualifies as one?
 
Because it goes against the millennial PC handbook to even consider that there is choice involved. (And I agree with you, who cares if it is by birth or by choice, people should be allowed to rectal rodeo with whomever they choose).

Some of our miscommunication may be coming from us using binary labels to describe this, when sexual orientation is best represented on a spectrum. Still though, I'm not clear on what you mean by choice? In your mind, what does it mean to "choose" to be gay? If a heterosexual person is not attracted to the same sex, how can they "choose" to be gay?
 
There's a difference in being homosexual, and engaging in homosexual acts...Wakeandbake is talking about someone engaging in acts regularly...they can choose to do that if they want. But the definition of homosexuality is being physically attracted to members of the same sex...not just having sex with them.
