I'm in total agreement with everyone that there needs to be reform on gun laws. I just don't know what to do or how to do it. There's no cure all unfortunately.

Also to think this that racism is the only issue at play here would be lazy. This guy was very sick. Mental health is a huge issue that need to be addressed in the U.S. The stigmas attached to mental illness need to be dropped. If mental health was taken as seriously as physical health and treatment was as readily available, I'm not sure we'd be having a discussion about this today.

I'm with you here. I'm not an emotional guy at all and I never really have a physical reaction to things, but that video fucked with me. It's one thing to read about something after, but to see live video of cold blooded murder in a public forum... That's intense. It really shook me up at how much joy almost the guy took in posting it.

I think it's fine for you to be shaking/mortified/etc upon viewing that video. It's a real murder committed in front of your eyes. It isn't bloody, but it was the screaming that got me.

But that doesn't mean that visceral reaction needs to manifest itself into policy discussions, which it invariably seems to do in the first week after some kind of shooting incident.
