Snow

Is the triad at risk for major icing?
I'm on business trip in southern California ( where it's supposed to be 83 tomorrow) and if we lose power while I'm out here my wife will never let me forget it.

I might lose it if my kids attitudes don't improve and we have to stay home tomorrow

Only one here, but samesies. We were home today regardless for the holiday but wanted to get out of the house to a museum or something. The Bug was a horrible listener yesterday. It was a long day.

Hopefully if we can't drive we can at least play in the snow before it starts icing/wintery mixing.

Just drove in. It went from absolutely nothing my house to a dusting about 10 miles north. Driving on I-40 was fine, except it started freezing rain in Clemmons, which was annoying. Winston-Salem's main roads arent bad, the side roads are pretty white though.

Charlotte canceled school, despite the fact that there hasn't been a drop of precip yet.

It is completely absurd. We got a call from Gaston Co at 8:00 last night "schools are open tomorrow". Then we get a call at 5:30 this morning "schools are closed". WTF changed? Not one drop of water has fallen from the sky.

certainty with short range forecasts can absolutely change a lot overnight

that was easy

See bro, a while back they invented this thing called the radar that can sort of show where the weather is heading and what it might do when it gets there. Pretty wild stuff.

Those stupid KenPom meteorologists are just out to troll 2and2 again. Damn statistics.

Doofus gave them a call and reminded them that even the Panthers had canceled their game.

It's 10:15 AM in Charlotte, and still, not a drop of precipitation has fallen.

Really? Because it is now 10:45 and still not one drop of precipitation has fallen from the sky. Which, shockingly, is also what the radar showed, yet they closed school anyway.

My son just showed me a clip of about 12 cars all in a ditch on Shattalon Dr between Robinhood Rd and Yadkinville. Pretty crazy considering we have had 2" at max.

Country club and Jonestown were a complete mess last night too. Probably 25 cars in a wreck on both roads around 7.

Just went through a pretty heavy sleet/freezing rain thing between Lexington and Winston. Mirrors and wipers are glazed over.

Yeah just got back to the office after letting the dog out. Getting slick on my side of town (Country Club area).

I need to run to Lexington after work to pick up some lumber. How was 52?

At what point is this supposed to switch over to straight up rain?
