Triad restaurant comings, goings and recs

Sticks and Stones is kinda loud for a team get-together if there's any work to be done, right?

went to the spring house last week and had one of the best meals of my life, braised pork shoulder with crispy pork belly sitting on cheese grits and collards.

From Skippy's Facebook Page:

Let me tell you about Downtown WS restaurants!!! These folks, & a bunch more, are cooking up a fund raiser for our beautiful friend, Mike Rothman. Mike owns Skippy's Hot Dogs. It's an institution on 4th St. Mike fell ill recently with cancer. He is now w/ his family in another state & fighting the good fight. We all want to help Mike...so, the last week in April we are all volunteering our time & skills to re-open Skippy's for a week run. ALL PROCEEDS will go to Mike to help cover medical costs. Please make a note of this great event & more details to follow

Where should I go after hooding in about a month? Fancy or Waldo's?

Meh, hooding is no big deal. Definitely Wings.

Just kidding, go somewhere that feels celebratory, doc.

DEFINITELY WALDO'S.

Also, I could be wrong but I think they are putting in a second Waldo's across from Quiet Pint. That is right near my work and troublesome for my health.

You aren't wrong. Talked to the owner about this recently.

The revamped original over on Reynolda looks good too. Hadn't been there since they upgraded tv's/made the atmosphere a little better. Also seemingly got a big enough staff to cover the needs of business each night.

Wonder how their business has been overall since ECW opened across the street there. Not too bad apparently since there is a second location in the works.

It's nice having both those places putting out some good food and having decent atmospheres. That area on Reynolda has had a nice comeup the last few years.

I was a little jaded that they took down a good bit of the racin' stuff and shitcanned the jukebox.

Yeah...the old televisions were just awful though. You can't be a reliable sports bar and have like 2/5 TV's in SD.
