Wake Forest's own Tommy Elrod caught leaking football information to other teams

Any coach that says this is no big deal should let the other team's coaches in to just watch their practice since it's no big deal, especially the closed parts where they practice new/trick plays.

Seems it would be easy to use it to an extent without even letting anyone else know about it. An assistant at another school could've got info from Elrod and even though they may have never told anyone else about it, they could make suggestions in coaches meetings. You know, "maybe we should be prepare a little bit for this just in case," type of thing. Heck, I could even see an assistant using that way on purpose to make themselves look good. Let's say Elrod informs them of a special play we're going to run that we haven't shown on film and the assistant just mentions that "maybe we should prepare a little bit for this because you never know." Then if we run it in the game, it makes that assistant look pretty good for bringing it up.

This goes along with my personal opinion about his motivation - helping his friends/former co-workers look good and get ahead. That may not apply in the VT case, however, unless someone comes up with a connection that I have not heard so far.

It's a huge deal and everybody knows it. Heck, Nick Saban could invite 90 percent of the teams in the country to practice with them and sit in on meetings the week leading up to a game and still beat them, but I guarantee Nick Saban thinks the confidentiality of game planning information is hugely important.

As this develops, it will be interesting to see which schools used the information and which did not. Could have been that assistants at both Army and VT (the others we now know about) did nothing with the information and the assistants simply chose to keep quiet rather than report up the chain. I truly believe that Army's administration and VT's administration would have contacted Wellman if they had any inkling this was going on. Those are two decent athletic departments - unlike the cesspool which is at Louisville.

So they say... without the evidence like we got at Louisville what compels any program to confess they "used" the information?

As others have mentioned. I think it may be that we have information to incriminate, but may be giving an opportunity for these schools to "investigate and admit" on their own. I could very well be wrong though.

Please explain what I didn't understand about the pop culture here?

At least that should be amusing...

I don't want to get in the middle of you and siff's thing here but I was just saying you seem like the kind of guy that would make up a nickname for a group of people you were with that didn't even really want to be hanging out with you.

That's why you're Allan.

what's Elrod's addiction? Gambling? The ponies? Prostitutes? Got to be one of these three, amiright?

Got to guess sports betting. And then got to find the buddy who placed the bets in his name.

He bets on Ultimate Frisbee.

Interesting to see just how long the NCAA can remain silent on this. We have one school who admits to cheating. One that does not deny and apologized for something, two more that have been notified, and a P5 Conference headquarters investigating. The NCAA talks when there is a minor self reported recruiting violation.

Except you have no clue what you talking about, but you are used to to that...

This is just wrong that he did this and for so long. If he hates Wellman & what we're doing st Wake he should have just said so and gone and get another job like the rest of us. The more I read about this the more pissed I am at Elrod. This is so immoral. I'm sorry for my initial reaction to try and defend him. This is terrible.

It's hard to be unbiased when you call somebody a friend. Clouds your judgment.

Good on you to come back and say your piece.
