deplorables - alt perspective

I say we make a public poll of who supports Pres Trump and his policies. PH can then take the names and decide who he views as racist or not racist. Then we can get some real boards numbers, ya dig?

The problem is he listed three groups, and none of them were even close to something like "Educated, literate people who have decently reasoned lines of thought with which I happen to disagree."

Not allowing for the possibility of reasonable disagreement is an intellectual weakness.

when have you ever disagreed with anything in a reasonable way

continues to prove my point that you're less interested in disagreement than attempting to snipe with dumb characterizations rather than actually discuss something

The polls exist. One was posted in this thread yesterday.

Good luck finding a poll showing fewer than 50% of Trump supporters have an extreme fear of people outside of the US or Islam.

Damn, I shoulda done a little digging before posting.

FWIW, the majority of Trump voters/supporters that I've encountered, have all been pretty level-headed individuals. You know, non-judgmental, tax paying, red blooded Americans.

Shot in the dark here. Would you describe them as people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they're just desperate for change?

Perhaps I should have deleted the ideas I disagree with and replaced them with a stock photo.

I don't think you can easily group voters and supporters together. Playing the anecdotal card, most Trump supporters I know fall easily in the "phobic" crowd because, well, that was a key part of Trump's platform, no? The majority of Trump voters (but not supporters) I encounter often have a different opinion about the extreme fear of (insert here)... It is a key distinction though between voter and supporter (recognizing the latter encompasses the former but not necessarily vice-versa).

I'd say a lot of people who want a POTUS who isn't the agent of a foreign adversary post here.

Not necessarily. Most are fairly "successful" and are those who want the government out of their wallets and bedrooms.

Outside of Facebook, I really don't encounter these extremists pubs that are spoken about so often on the tunnels.

You're so right. The prince of a country that is home to a major US military base wouldn't have gotten a meeting with the SOS without making a donation.

You're so right. A Nobel Laureate, who is trying to help poor people, wouldn't get a meeting without making a donation.

You're so right getting donations to pay for HIV drugs and malaria netting is bad.

But it's OK to beg the former Director of the KGB to hack a candidate for POTUS. It's OK to have that same person's go to guy as Campaign Manager.

What am I doing? sailor likes fascism but hates Muslims and progressives.

YHou mean like Pence who wants to be every bedroom in America telling them whom to love and how to procreate?

Also, neither Trump nor anyone in his administration is going to shake anything up for the LGBTQ community. That would be what you libs call an "irrational fear".
