Triad restaurant comings, goings and recs

I would prefer to go downtown. Or D'back. I'm not a huge Hickory Tavern fan either. I ate at CAH in Raleigh over the break which was ok.

Has anyone ever been to Cincy's in downtown greensboro? Friend of mine told me about it but that it's only open for lunch so had never been. It's a Cincinnati style chili place.
Sure. It's good hearty chili. People who like that sort of thing are very loyal to it. They have sandwiches and burgers on the menu too IIRC. I haven't been in years but I think they do a robust lunch business from the nearby office buildings.

I like Dback, but I'm on a personal campaign to improve the beer list. Stay tuned...

Atelier to re-open downtown this week or next. It sounds like the owner was suffering from depression, or at least that's my uneducated take on his statement.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BPYeo9vgqYy/

Sounded maybe more severe than that even, but in any case, glad he is working to get himself healthy. Hopefully a big batch of Churro Croissants is just what the doctor ordered. I can't imagine the financial stress that must have put him under to close both locations within a week of opening the second.

That's Pablo who ran Pablo's on Trade in the mid-90s for all you punks/straight edgers/hardcore dudes/weirdos. I played in the Reynolds HS Orchestra with him for one year before I moved and sadly never got to step foot in Pablo's, but I found out some guy downstairs went to Bishop McGuinness when I was living in Winston and asked me about Pablo's, so there ya go, a little synchronicity. His father was a bit of an eccentric, too, apparently. Depression or stress would not surprise me, given what little I know of the history, but he's a nice guy and I've never heard a bad thing about him from mutual friends.

Nevermind!

Although I did have a close friend get charged with the same thing once which was totally bogus, so you never know, but still, not cool.

Oh snap. Yeh, I knew this guy from back in the day. Pablo's as well as his coffee shop The Missing Link.

Ugh... communicating threats and assault on a female. You can't do that, dude.

Innocent until proven guilty my friend. That is the problem with our justice system. You do not know any of the facts surrounding this case. Don't automatically assume he is in the wrong just because he is charged. Let the system play out.

True, but in over 20 years with my wife, 10 of which I owned a small business, I have never gotten to the point where cops were called.

I hear that. Just making a generalized point to not crucify the guy yet. I deal with these DV cases professionally and you would be surprised at how many charges are vindictive or retaliatory in nature and end up with the person acquitted. I am by no means saying that is the case here. Our legal system is a funny thing.

What's the problem with the justice system? That we make criminal charges public before conviction? I'm confused.

Seems like your real gripe is with people who have nothing to do with the justice system making assumptions

You are totally right. I should have worded that differently. The problem is the general populace and how they perceive defendants who are charged and not yet convicted of a crime.

I tried to hit up Crafted in WS last night before the game but there was a 50 minute wait. I haven't been before so was a little surprised at how busy it was for a weekday. Looking forward to getting in there sometime soon.

Anyone got a favorite ramen place in Winston? I haven't found anywhere that is decent yet.

Short answer is there isn't.

Longer answer is that they are now doing a "popup" ramen night at Spring House every now and again. There are articles, but I'm too drunk to bother wit it.
