Official Syracuse - Wake game thread (Foot of snow)

I really thought we were going to shred the zone with arians and Dinos and woods rotating thru and Collins on the back line.

We never figured it out.

I'm not sure what play everybody is so upset amount.

Not sure the time stamp I will have to go back and look but it was just sloppy handling of the ball around the midcourt down 4.

Obviously you break up a zone by hitting outside shots. Wish there was a plan B if Plan A didn't work. Our guards were lost tonight. Passing the ball around the top of the key and forcing a shot doesn't seem like good game planning. Neither does a high-low with Crawford and Woods instead of Dinos of Arians. Hard game to lose...

Not sure why Dinos didn't shoot more from the high post. He's the guy we want there to find Collins, shoot, or find another shooter. He mostly just whipped it back to the perimeter.

I'm so fucking pissed off right now, but it's great to have hope (and genuine disappointment) again (even if those hopes get strangled in Boeheim's fucking zone. I hate him).

Yes

Well yeah, it's right after a game that we should have arguably won with some very questionable calls down the stretch. People are going to be upset but the reactions are much better than the toxic Northwestern game thread.

I understand there will be some hot takes after a loss, I'm pissed too and we should not have lost that game. The reason for losing the game seems pretty clear to me and that's our 3 point shooting (especially from woods, Arians, and Dinos). Crawford struggled a bit against the zone as well. We hit clutch shots and they responded immediately. I saw a tweet today that said if we were even average from 3 point range we would win, and that was true. Too bad we weren't.

10 points, 3 steals, 3 rebounds, 0 turnovers and 2 assists by a backup freshman point guard i'll take on the road in the ACC any day of the week. He didn't shoot great but his production was solid.

He had a decent game. I'll need to see a little more before I change my opinion. Seems like he could be a decent role player on a good ACC team in a couple of years. Not much more. Hope I'm wrong.

All I know is if we keep recruiting players that we expect/hope to be really good when they're juniors... there's a lot of 8-10 ACC seasons ahead of us regardless of who our coach is.

woods was supposed to be some stone cold sharp shooter. He's just another tentative short ass defensive liability guard we always get and have to play.

We are one player away from being a really quality team. I firmly believe if we only lose one more home game and find a way to win 2 more on the road, we will be on the bubble. I did a mock bracket on Monday and it is really difficult to find 36 at large teams that are in better standing than us. If we get to 18 wins before the acc tourney and not flame out in the first tourney game, we can get there. But if Collins returns and Brown lives up to the hype, we will be a really good team next year.

Yep this is where I'm at. I want to come out and beat the shit out of Duke Friday. If we were only going to win one of Syracuse and Duke I'll take beating Duke every day of week.

Just went back to rewatch, it was at the 5 second mark, ball gets barley stripped out of his hands and bounces high, acts very casually about it and in that time the defender is able to poke it directly back to his teammate who secures the ball and the game is over.

Woods is a good player. Just stop with the dumbness.

And watching foul after foul called during a regular season CBB game is more enjoyable?

I agree that this year's CBB officiating is absolutely brutal, but the NBA is a joke, too. Continuation, advancing the ball with a timeout, the number of games, etc... No thanks. Like I said, the playoffs are great. Regular season? Ugh.

Collins not returning would be devastating for the program.
