Hearthstone Thread FTMFW - 4/7 Ashes of Outland release - New Demon Hunter class!

I played an absurd amount of arena this weekend with a high school buddy. We spent 50+% of our waking hours this weekend playing arena, drinking, and watching The Office.

Our two best runs were actually the first (9 wins Mage) and last (10 win Rogue, that started 9-0). Of course, my friend has all the card luck in the world. He opened 3 legendaries in 4 arena reward packs at one point.

Anyway, I'm back in the arena game. It definitely comes and goes in waves.

I'm tryharding for the first time in a while and up to rank 12. Going to try to get to Dad Legend (rank 5) this month.

Have I mentioned how much I hate the Rogue quest? Because I really hate the Rogue quest.

Yeah it's irritating.

As HTTD put it, it's basically solitaire. They either hit the quest and win, or don't and you win, but almost neither is up to what you are doing (other than some strategic removal of Novice Engineer/the 2/3 combo card).

Play Aggro Druid or Pirate Warrior and you'll win 85%+ of matches against Rogue (Quest and Miracle)

PS - is anyone else seeing weird posts numbers in this thread? I have extra unread pages that don't exist and the post numbers don't match the reality.

Yes.

My strategy with Shaman has been just go face until right before he drops quest then try to clear the board. Also to hex / devolve when they through down the deathrattle elemental.

Finally made it to 10 today. I'd been stalled around 13-14 for a while.

This is an interesting strategy. I've been playing control mage so I usually try to clear his board of minions he may play again, but that doesn't seem to work.

Most of the time what I've found is that the rogue won't leave anything on the board that they'll need for the quest. I'll clear the board if I can maelstrom portal and get a minion on the board. Ultimately, I just try to build as a big of a board as possible and hope I draw bloodlust.

Just played against 4 straight quest rogues on ladder. Went 2-2. On the last one, I was able to mana bind his crystal core, so that was fun.

I think my current favorite thing to do is devolve a Druid's Living Mana minions. It's like an instaconcede.

I think I might be the only one who when I see I'm playing a warrior prays it's a pirate warrior. I don't have much trouble against them unless I have bad draws because most of my early curve minions are all taunts.

I don't mind playing against Pirate Warrior, either. They're not unbeatable, you know exactly what their game plan is, and you know the match isn't going to take long one way or another.

If you end up losing, it's not because of some bullshit RNG off Primordial Glyph or Swashburgler. Which reminds me:

Kripp might be my least favorite streamer after Amaz. All he does is whine when he loses about bad RNG. As if there couldn't possibly be any other reason he lost.

He does get salty and complain, but he has the game to back it up - he's essentially the greatest arena player OAT on NA, and that's despite getting sniped (which he calls all the time, too, lol). He's in my top three must-watch with Kibler and J4ckie.

Let's go! Took me forever to get golden Thrall, but now he's got company.

He should have an asterisk next to him since you've been playing pirate warrior.

Also, congrats!
