bkf is your gut feeling that when applying for various jobs across this beautiful country that Colin Berkeley and Jerome Washington would be treated equally?

I've never heard of either one of those two people, so I have no idea as to the qualifications of either for any particular job.

I'm pretty sure jhmd has acknowledged biases exist but talking about them is pissing in the wind. I disagree but understand the idea. It's easy and you can go along living your life. Ultimately if you do the right things more times than not you'll scratch out a non-poverty level life. Marriage, high school, etc.

Pretending that black people don't have some inherent hurdles because of people's biases is crazy though.

Yes.

Fixing the cratered community infrastructure and the culture that restricts growth and perpetuates poverty would be much harder and more effective than talking about biases. I would add that merely talking about biases is really easy, and you can definitely go along living your life.

Agree with all of this. Didn't mean to insinuate that talking about biases really moved the needle that much but at least acknowledging them I believe is a necessity.

Massaged results can send other researchers down the wrong track, wasting time and money trying to replicate them. Worse, in medicine, it can delay the development of life-saving treatments or prolong the use of therapies that are ineffective or dangerous. Malpractice comes to light rarely, perhaps because scientific fraud is often easy to perpetrate but hard to uncover.

The field of psychology has come under particular scrutiny because many results in the scientific literature defy replication by other researchers. Critics say it is too easy to publish psychology papers which rely on sample sizes that are too small, for example, or to publish only those results that support a favoured hypothesis. Outright fraud is almost certainly just a small part of that problem, but high-profile examples have exposed a greyer area of bad or lazy scientific practice that many had preferred to brush under the carpet.[/B]

This is not a problem of intentional bias on the part of researchers, it is a problem of p-value based inference and the high probability of spurious results when using p=0.05 as a threshold for statistical significance. P-vales area pervasive statistical test across a wide variety of research fields, especially biomedical, veterinary and psychology fields despite widespread condemnation by statisticians. But that is a math issue and you could not possibly understand.

I've been to Alabama and I can confirm that there are racists there.

How did every state surrounding Massachusetts get into the Least racist list, including the ones less than an hour from Boston, but MA doesn't make the list ?

More progressive tolerance. BKF, go to College Insurrection or the College Fix, and you will overdose on these examples. Liberal Fascism shows no signs of abating.

Campus Reform reports on a horrific incident that occurred at the University of Nebraska on Friday. Katie Mullen, a Nebraska sophomore, heads the Turning Point USA chapter on campus. She was “tabling” various posters (“Big Government Sucks” is a favorite), stickers and the like on the university’s campus.

As Ms. Mullen was manning her table, three or more professors began to harass her. They carried signs attacking Turning Point, screamed profanities, and shouted the usual drivel about “fascism,” “white supremacy” and so on. One of the teachers, Courtney Lawton, a PhD student and lecturer, gave Mullen the finger.

The professors created enough of a scene that a university administrator told Ms. Mullen that she would have to leave the area. Subsequently a campus police officer determined that she had a right to be where she was and allowed her to stay. Later, however, she was escorted away from the area for her own safety. ...

Many have condemned the teachers’ outrageous actions, although as of this writing the university has not taken any action against them. There is one aspect of this incident that, as far as I know, has not been commented upon, and that renders it particularly disgusting.

If you listen to the video embedded above, you will note that Courtney Lawton keeps referring to Katie Mullen as “Becky.” She says, “neo-fascist Becky right here, Becky the neo-fascist right here.” This is odd. Did Lawton somehow think that Katie’s name was Becky?

I don’t think so. This is the sort of thing that most people don’t know, but the Urban Dictionary says “Becky” means “a basic bitch.” It also means “hot white girl” and denotes a woman who enjoys giving oral sex.

I for one am shocked that two of the top three least racist states are composed of 1% and 2% African American populations

Liberal Fascism shows no signs of abating.

That's awesome. Sounds like liberals have finally listened to jhmd and taken a page from the right. Gotta win, right?
