Unpopular opinions

I'm of the opinion there should be no federal disaster relief for hurricanes. They come all the time, and have several days warning.

Sucks to be poor then. And what does advanced warning have to do with disaster relief? Even if you have plenty of time to skip town, that doesn't save your house and possessions from being completely destroyed.

If only there was some way for people to protect themselves so they could be made whole in the case of a disaster wrecking their home

People that deny climate change and other scientific findings must be forced to stay when all others are given assistance to evacuate. Their should be consequences for your stupidity.

Guess you haven't been following the news stories about the outrageous premiums for flood insurance (in some markets, more expensive over the course of a decade than completely rebuilding from a disaster). Also, FEMA benefits max out at something like $25-30k. Not going to make whole that many homes.

qfp. the typo is rich.

I do know that, but that's the tradeoff for deciding to live in a place where massive flooding is a major risk. Either you don't live on the southeast or gulf coasts, you pay ridiculous premiums, or you run the risk of losing everything.

There's a reason for that. People shouldn't be building houses there.

My buddy has zero probs with having his wifes nekkid burning man pics on The Facebook. woah.

lol "outrageous"

as in outrageously low, you mean

and benefits do not max out at $35-50k, not sure where you got that from. Coverage can be replacement cost (as in, rebuild your home) like regular home insurance for single family homes.
