Why is the vitriol over too much money in sports always directed at athletes rather than the owners who make way more than them. It's almost as if there is something else going on. Hmm...

Spoiled billionaires fighting with spoiled millionaires has never ever looked too good or convincing either.

*not crazy

Of course, 30 years from now everyone will celebrate this as a moment that brought Americans together in support of Civil Rights much like Rosa Parks refusing to move to the back of the bus or the March on Washington, both of which weren't at all controversial at the time and had total support from Southern conservatives.

Eh, I don't think most people are thinking of yesterday as a Civil Rights issue, more of a middle finger to Trump issue. That may indirectly be a Civil Rights issue, but I haven't heard anyone actually talking about fixing police brutality or systemic racism with regard to these "protests". It is more just a protest of Trump.

Right, because somehow the protests that started as kneeling to address police brutality and racial injustices have been turned into an assault on a piece of cloth and the military.

Wonder why the argument has been convoluted instead of actually addressed by folks? It's almost as if people would rather avoid the discussion altogether by being insulted by the protest instead of what it represents.

You know when Kap started this protest that Obama was in office, right?

Probably because Kaepernick, and now everyone else, chose to do it when said piece of cloth and the military are being honored. Though that may just be a coincidence I guess.

Had Kaep chosen to take a knee on the first play from scrimmage when the ball was snapped to him, the response would definitely be different.

How?

Sure, and it was him and a handful of other guys. Then Trump fires off like a fool and there are a few hundred who are firing back. I don't disagree with their actions, but I think he, and subsequently they, have shifted the message.

Except the piece of cloth supposedly represents all Americans, not just the military.

I didn't realize until now that playing the national anthem before games was just about the military.

No. People who support Civil Rights but didn't kneel or sit decided to do so in solidarity and unity.

When the flag is on my Budweiser can I'm spitting my Skoal into, is that about the military too? #important

There wouldn't be the issue of respecting veterans and fallen soldiers and everything else that the anthem stands for. If the players decide to sit out a quarter or game in the name of Civil Rights advancement, that is a much more direct and effective message than something that immediately causes confusion.

Lol well that would directly impact their employment, which we have heard should be kept separate from protests when in the workplace.
