NFL Offseason Thread: 2018 NFL Draft

Houston fans can't even have 24 hours to be happy. Watson out for the season with torn ACL in practice.

Can't remember the last dude who got hurt this bad in a regular-season practice. What shitty luck.

Huge blow, this guy was must-see TV

Man that sucks. Seems like a really good guy, makings of a great player and really fun to watch.

He was a sleeper MVP candidate, certainly if Houston won the division.

Awful news. He was a special player, and the Texans were quite entertaining with him.

Now we're stuck with Tom Savage.

Fuck you Skrine. That was dirty and may have cost Zay Jones his season.

Edited: so maybe I overreacted

Just when it was all going so well for the Bills, they go back to trying to add players and it all goes haywire

lord the Jets can't even tank right

That would normally be true, but they are actually getting good enough to the point where a decent QB may just be able to slide in and make them really good. Somebody like Cousins or Bradford/Bridgewater has to look at them as a legit destination now. That is probably a less-risky move than hoping to strike gold on a QB in the draft, even with a top pick.

Don't sleep on McCown as not a "decent QB". Think he's QB 8 or 9 this year in fantasy, for reference.

For whatever reason I still don't think cousins is that good

These teams needing a QB should be trying to get a college kid as opposed to guys like Cousins if for no other reason than being cost effective. Kirk Cousins isn't exactly top level QB talent, and paying him $20/mil a year would be crazy when you might hit on the a Wentz/Watson level talent in the draft and then have him cost controlled for five years. If you can get a clear top level QB in free agency (of which it's arguable how many there even are - I wouldn't say more than 10 at most and probably more like 5) sure then spend the QB contract cash, but for the most part if I'm a GM of a team going nowhere I'm looking for cheap, elite QB talent from the draft

^^^ yeah but some teams (browns) literally have no idea how to identify college qb talent. They could have wentz and watson or even goff on their roster now. Their only hope is to try and lure a known commodity.
