Official 2017 College football thread

Everybody but Ohio State, yes. And ND easily should still be ahead of them, better wins, better losses, stronger schedule

A two loss Ohio State is getting in when they win the Big 10 over a shitty Wisconsin team.

Rigged. Rigged. Rigged. It's why that coward Urban faked a heart attack to go there

I don't have an intense dislike for ND like some do here. But I detest the "arrangement" they have with the ACC. I do not want them in any playoff as an independent, so I hope they lose whenever they're looking good for it. Preferably to an ACC team like tonight. Join as a regular effing ACC member and stop this elitist BS.

Except when you get the condescending announcers on NBC. While our game was not as close as the end score, they treated it like a foregone conclusion. If you don't naturally dislike ND the NBC money handlers should do it.

????

ND getting a second loss - check
Washington getting a second loss - check
UGa losing to Auburn - check

PAC12 has no better than a 2 loss team
Big 10 has one team that is better than 2 losses, and they are getting no respect If Wiscy gets smoked in the Big 10 champ game, they won't get in.
Big 12 has one team that is better than 2 losses. If Okla gets beat in the champ game (or to WV), then they have no 1 loss teams
If Bama wins out, then no other SEC team has less than 2 losses.
ACC seems to be in the best position, unless Clemson or Miami gets upset down the stretch. If a one loss Clemson just barely beats an unbeaten Miami team in a great game, do they both get in? I wouldn't be surprised if one of those stumbles down the stretch though (UM at Pitt?)
Is an unbeaten UCF able to sneak in?

Wat?? Pitt just lost at home to a terrible unc team, they ain't beating Miami

How about my Black Knights? Army went undefeated in their home slate this season - they have a legitimate shot at beating Navy for consecutive seasons, and winning their first Commander-in-Chief's Trophy since 1996.

Lol what? Have you seen Pitt play?

Man, the NFL Thursday night games have killed the Thursday night college games. There used to be some good college games on Thursday night, but the schedule this year has been awful.

This weekend in general is awful every year with a lot of top teams playing their money games.

You realize they won the first CFP, with wins over mighty Alabama and Mariota-led Oregon, right? Urban also has 2 other national championships. Easy to dislike, but undoubtedly still a top 3 coach with Saban and Dabo - probably would put behind Dabo now, too. Those three are pretty far above the rest.

The committee has talked about how much they value conference championships, so if tOSU beats MSU, Michigan, and Wisconsin handily in 3 of their last 4 games, they're going to get in over a 2 loss, non-champ ND or UGA team. I could definitely see a 1 loss, non-champ Bama or even Miami getting in ahead of them though, which would be really interesting to see, and I hope it happens with Miami and the Deacs end up Miami-bound.

When did the MAC start playing all of its games on Tuesday and Wednesday?

I seem to remember some but I didn't think it was every game

Understand that the MAC will never get air time on a typical college football Saturday, but while a single mid-week game is OK, it must completely suck to play a large portion of your games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Makes the NCAA's go to excuse of student-athletes "missing too many classes" sound ridiculous.

This year is going to be a good year for the "Keep the playoffs at 4 teams" crowd because barring an upset we're going to have 4 CCGs that are effectively quarterfinal matchups (although a 1-loss non-champ Bama may still get in over a 2-less Big12 champ TCU)

1/6 Iron Bowl winner vs 7 Georgia
2 Clemson vs 3 Miami
5 Wisconsin vs 9 tOSU
4 OU vs 12 TCU

Thursday night NFL football is generally garbage. They should get rid of it. It really is possible to have too much NFL football.

If Clemson beats Miami in the ACC title game, does 2-loss O$U jump them? Because that would be ridiculous.

Yeah, I've barely watched any NFL Thursday night football this year. The only Thursday I watch much NFL football is Thanksgiving. I always enjoyed watching the good Thursday night college matchups, unfortunately there have been very few this year. Louisville @ State was on a Thursday night this year, but other than that I can't think of any real good ones this season.

Never underestimate the desire to get OSU in the playoff. The only other program I can think of that the powers that be would rather have in there is Notre Dame, but since they got blown out by the U, that ain't happening.
