Omnibus Bowl Projections Thread - Belk Bowl

I hope the coaching staff and players didn't spend all week thinking about bowl scenarios. I hope so. Because it looked like they did.

Saving the playbook for whatever random-ass bowl oppponent we get.

We’ve gone from the possibility of going to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte where we would draw a strong crowd, to the probability of being bumped down to the Sun Bowl in god-awful El Paso, and a small draw of loyal Wake fans. What a difference a week makes.

We r not going to Shreveport. We have 7 wins. Quite complaining

That's not actually a difference. It's still likely between the Belk and Sun.

The Sun Bowl is not a bump down, except for the fact it's not Charlotte. It is just as prestigious as the Belk Bowl, Music City, Pin Stripe. They are all the same tier. A bump down would be ending up in the Military, Independence, or Quick Lane.

I think that it is where we end up and I think it is a good bowl- we've never been there before and we are 3-0 against the Pac 12 in bowl games.

As "inevitable" as they were last week.

I think that Miami's loss changed things regardless of the outcome of our game with Duke. I don't see the Belk Bowl passing up the chance at a 9 win NC State team. If Miami and Clemson had both made the CFP, that would have put VT in the Orange Bowl and State in Orlando. But now I think that the winner of the ACC Championship will go to the CFP, loser to the Orange Bowl and VT to Orlando. That leaves State available for the Belk.

FWIW, NC State played, and lost big, at the Belk Bowl in 2015, to Miss. State.

State was just in the Belk 2 years ago. Think they also went another time fairly recently. Might make it less obvious.

Do not want to play Arizona in the Sun Bowl. Not a big football school and Tate will put up 600 on us.

I will say that a win today combined with a State loss may have positioned us well for the Belk. That didn’t happen and I agree with you that State is destined for the Belk now.

Both NC State and Virginia Tech could still end up in Orlando if the Big 10 ends up as the opponent opposite the ACC in the Orange Bowl (though with Alabama's loss today, that looks less likely).

Will we have to wait until the conference championship games are completed to learn our fate?

Do not forget that FSU still has 1 more game to be played and can go bowling.

I can see this horrible scenario in which we get bumped down to a tier 3 bowl if FSU wins. That would put Virginia Tech, Louisville, NC State, and FSU in to the second tier.

A weak FSU team won't be that attractive to non-FL bowls.

Which means those whores at the Tax Slayer Bowl will probably invite them, causing us to drop down to the Independence Bowl, since we went to the Military last year.
