2017 College Football Coaching Carousel

Not likely. Its gonna be way harder to get the athletes to College Station vs Tallahassee. It's also gonna be way harder to win there as you get to deal with Bama, LSU, Auburn, & Miss St for starters on a yearly basis & deal with recruiting against Tom Herman and Gary Patterson just in state with Lincoln Riley right across the border.

This will take a herculean effort and I am not sure Jimbo can pull it off. I think he would have stood a much better chance if he had taken the LSU job a year ago.

I think you underestimate how easy it is to recruit to A&M, especially if you have a national championship to your name. That said, I question if Jimbo has gotten complacent or not. Sure sounds like he had at FSU which sort of led to a lot of this.

Taggart scares the hell out of me and I don't want him near Tallahassee.

If Sumlin could bring in top 15 classes year after year then Fisher should have no problem doing the same thing. Fisher has won a national championship as a head coach while the rest of the coaches you listed have won a grand total of zero. It's not gonna take a "herculean effort" for Fisher to win consistently at A&M.

He would bring a Dabo type energy to FSU. Jimbo was never all that exciting.

Dabo is only 48 by the way.

Right - getting athletes into College Station hasn't been a problem since the 80's. Sumlin brought in great classes, but he was hopeless as an in-game coach and he was never able to recover from running off Kyler Murray, Kenny Hill, and Kyle Allen within a matter of months. A&M has better facilities, better fan support, and deeper pockets; Jimbo will be able to recruit fine.

Interesting to see who Arkansas gets. Clearly 5th fiddle in that division but fans with pretty large expectations. Three proven coaches at the better jobs in your division, and LSU will always get dudes

Taggart has been the main target since Tuesday and will probably get offer today if he hasn't already. He's certainly my top choice. Already mentioned he would bring Cristobal, Leavitt and Dugans from Miami and only coach retained at FSU would be Odell Haggins.

Gus Malzahn once Auburn loses to UGA tomorrow.

These wheels started turning when Jimbo and his now ex wife started down the divorce road. With that finalized and what appears to be a pretty favorable settlement in his favor because of her...indiscretions...time for him to move on, start over and in the process give a big middle finger to his ex who isn’t getting much of his ridculous new contract.

I thought the Malzahn stuff was done after beating Alabama. Guess it can't linger on past this week at least one way or the other

Fulmer new Tennessee A.D. Will he hire Mike Leach? or go with Kevin Sumlin?

I’m surprised after the season opening Alabama beatdown of his teams will to even play football he decided he’d like to see Saban every year.

Fulmer's back because he's bringing in Clawson.

Not to nitpick but let's be real here: LSU and A&M have not had a talent deficiency issue, but fact remains that only 1 team from outside the state of Alabama has won the SEC West in a decade (and that LSU team got smoked by Bama in the champ game). Whether one calls it "herculean" or not, it's not going to be a cakewalk.

Wow!
I go to a Friday afternoon meeting for a while, come out and see that Jimbo has gone to A&M and Fulmer's the new AD at UT.
Lot's of stuff happening very quickly.
