Official 2017 College football thread

No. Yes. No. It's the National Championship. I would prefer the teams were from different conferences. Another SEC championship game as a National Championship game is just less interesting to me.

I don’t get that at all. I could care less if it was two B1G teams, two ACC teams, or whatever. If they‘re the two best teams in the country, and it‘s hard to argue Alabama and Georgia aren‘t, who cares if they‘re from the same conference?

Well the SEC already banished the two other best teams and Ohio State got blown out by one of them and Iowa. This is the best matchup !

I am not saying it is not the matchup between the two best teams. I am saying that it is not interesting to me, and that I would like to see an 8 team or larger playoff.

I think a lot of fans care, but we can check the ratings after to see if I'm just being a lil bitch.

So if Georgia were playing Clemson, which is only about 90 minutes from Athens, that would be more interesting ?

I watched the NCAA Championship Game between Georgetown and Villanova and found it quite compelling.

Hell, Ph seems butthurt about UCF and there's no discernable reason why he should give two fucks about them.

Entertaining to watch Biff defend UGA from even non-intended slights. Have UGA fans failed to figure out how to set up a Message Board?

Hope the game will be entertaining and hope UGA wins (which really means, desperately want Saban and Bama to lose).

Fear the game will be a 23-10 Bama win, in a snooze-fest (like most Bama games except for the previous NC games against Clemson). That would suck. Guessing that most people with tepid interest in the game are anticipating that type of outcome.

I will definitely still watch, but this won't receive near the same ratings/national interest as it would if you replaced one of the SEC teams with OSU, Texas, PSU, USC, FSU, etc.

There seems to be a lot of UGA hate on here for no apparent reason, though. Not a big Wake rival. I'm not a fan of SEC football but given that Biff is a fan of the school too (alum? family? other?) I don't see any problem with him defending them. Lots of others do a lot worse on here.

I was 11 years old when Herschel and the Dawgs won the National Championship in the Sugar Bowl. Lindsay Scott and Herschel are my boyhood idols. It was quite an impressionble age. And I have plenty of relatives and many more friends who went to UGA as an Atlanta native. I even have some Bama peeps.

No Ga Tech folks though.

Yeah, born at Georgia Baptist Hospital. Raised in Dekalb and Cobb Counties. High school in the city of Atlanta on the banks of the Chatahoochee.

I always look out for the little guy. College football is the only sport on the face of God’s green earth where a team can go undefeated and not win a championship. Or even play for a championship.

False distinction Ph. It's not college football, it's the other sports that end only when ONE team ends the season with a win.

What? How is that different or better?

You basically said, "False distinction Ph. It's not 6, it's one half dozen."
