This is the correct answer. Having the right coach and staff is the key in college sports. We found the right staff in football. It has very little to do with the feelings and tolerance of the alums.
 
Alums apply pressure on school to find a good staff and coach. Without Wake's example in football, I'm not sure Duke makes as strong moves as they did to reenter the competition. Very similar to the effect Mackovic at Wake in the 70s had on them (and others) in the 80s.

Manning is going to be our coach next year and if he does something special, I will gladly switch to not anti Manning. I have no loyalty other than winning again.

This will give him some serious time with some top HS players. Let's hope he puts the extra access to good use.
 
This offseason is a defining moment in Wake hoops for the next 30 years. Our decision to stay the course now and let Miller get away will have 40 years of impact. What a disaster. Once in a lifetime opportunity for Wake hoops and we are pissing it away.
 
Miller is going to upset Gonzaga and then we're screwed

Yep i defected after the ND game. People defending Manning now are like the people still hard for the Buzz after his third year..... You don't want to be like those people.

The blue hairs are moderately happy. Ron calls them. Ron flatters them and then asks for things and occasionally lets them fly on team trips.

I don't disagree with your post. However, I think you need to open your eyes to the true problem and who is running our athletic department into the ground. It's not the 99.9% of posters on this board. (RChildress prevented the 100%). It's people who have enabled this insane shit for over eight years. Until Ron's "true bosses" put their foot down (ain't happening), nothing is substantially going to change. Some people, again, not directed at this board, just love wallowing in mediocrity and adore what little attention they can derive from writing "the check". And ya' think this is just some guy who is spit-balling and out of touch? Uh, no. I actually know several of the blue hairs. One is in my immediate family. The excuses they make for this crap-fest would make a rational person's head explode!!

I believe I have outlined repeatedly for years why Miller is the unique unicorn for Wake Forest. Will there be other great coaches come along? Of course. Will any of them want to or be in positions to spend 40 years at our shit show?
