Wake Forest Football 2018 Offseason Discussion

Perhaps it is too much to ask; but do you have a list of injured players...particularly players on the 2-deep roster? Of special concern are those likely to miss the 1st game.

thanks

I'm not really comfortable putting that information out right now. I'm sorry, I know it's of great interest. But I can say that the only really concerning injury thus far - Scotty Washington - has been reported on. Otherwise it's guys who have missed 2-4 practices, and then come back. Phil Haynes was out for the past two days, but he was full go today. That type of situation, imho, isn't worth spending time writing about while I can instead write about Chuck Wade or the D-line or the rovers. Maybe I'm wrong.

I understand. It was an unwise request.

Good one, tulanedeac

Wake tweeted a picture of Bill Faircloth and Jim Caldwell watching football practice this morning. Despite his ultimate failure at Wake it's pretty cool Caldwell still has interest in and personal connection to our program. That's pretty rare among former football coaches I'd say.

Nice that a well known NFL coach would stop by to check up on the college team he coached.
I'd think players would be excited to meet him.

Caldwell is all class. The real deal in my book. Perhaps he feels a debt of gratitude for being one of the first blacks to headcoach in P5. Or maybe he feels that he was given every opportunity to succeed and believes he was treated well by the school when it was time for a change. I hope that he has grown to accept things and is not bitter; it certainly seems that way. Glad he came by

Caldwell has never been bitter. He is a first-class person who recognizes that life is about a lot more than any one success or failure. WF is very lucky to have him around.

I gripe a lot about Wellman but I'll always be proud of him for hiring JC.

Caldwell is by far my favorite bad coach Wake has ever had.

Definitely. All class. He has no animosity toward Wake. I still have fond memories of the Aloha Bowl season. He left the program with several NFL players which allowed Grobe to quickly build a foundation. His career has been a template for anybody who has a major setback in their 30s and 40s.

Had a dream last night Mark May picked us to win the national title

We could be up 4 TDs with 4 min to go in the CFP Championship and Mark May wouldn’t pick us.

To be fair, since I’m a Deacon fan even I would be nervous. You know we all would

if each sport got to put forth their worst analyst to compete in a head-to-head competition, Mark May would do pretty well in that tournament
