Not according to anything ive read on Gillums primary campaign strategy.Gillum campaigned hard in suburbs. How do you think he won in the big metro areas of the state?

How is this “shitty suburban politics”?
Here’s a pro tip...when 55% of the country lives in a suburb...and the suburbs are the fastest growing segment of the country (yes even faster than urban areas)...I wouldn’t piss all over and alienate these people. Especially when many are likely to embrace progressive causes like gun control, public education and a fair and equitable financial system that won’t wreck home values again.

Well, every article that mentioned his focus on turning out poor and African American voters, particularly African American women, since he didnt believe that the voting base of either of his opponents would switch, but go off I guess, tell me about how Gillum won on the strength of the middle class.LOL. What did you read?
I’ll compare it with what I’ve read from people who actually campaigned for Gillum.
When I use a term for where people live, I don’t actually mean the people who live there, I mean my stereotypes of people who live there. It’s like when Trump and Republicans use ‘inner cities’ to describe all black people and ‘illegals’ to describe all Latinos.
Dear Lord, I hope this is the last time I have to explain such an obvious statement.
Fuck are you talking about? Instead of being a snarky shit, why don't you tell me who lives in the suburbs, since I obviously dont know.Fixed

You remember that he won with 33% of the vote, right? You continue to misinterpret the word "focus", when it has a fairly definite meaning. I promise, when I ever use the word "ignore" ill let you know. I send you a PM so you dont miss it.[insert why not both? gif here]
But seriously, I barely know any white upper middle class “suburban” women who voted for Graham. They pretty much all went for Gillum.
I understand where you get your ideas from. Incredulous moderates write articles about getting black people to vote like Jane Goddell writing about primate mating rituals and progressives like you eat it up.
Gillum went all over urban and suburban areas of all the large metro areas in the state and made his case. Look up any of the video from his campaign. He was talking to upper class white ladies as much as if not more often than he was talking to black audiences in black neighborhoods.
I can’t think of anything more dumb than looking at the election results and thinking “that successful candidate must have just ignored the college educated white people in large metro areas who make up a very large part of the Democratic Party.”
The large metro areas are where the black people live in FL.
DeSantis did better in cities than Putnam. That map would probably hold for him too.
MDMH, I just want you to think about what you’re doing. I’m a upper-class college-educated black guy who lives in a FL suburb in a large metro area trying to explain to you that Gillum reached out to upper-class college-educated suburban white people AND black people in large metro areas. You’re trying to tell me he didn’t by using data showing that Gillum did better than Graham in counties with large metropolitan areas.
Just think for a second before you keep going. You may realize how ridiculous you’re being.
You full of absolute shit PH, you know goddamn well what I mean by suburban. If you're going.to be so fucking dishonest i'm not debating with you anymore. Enjoy the circle jerk with the rest of the ignorant country club shit heads here, you've obviously got more in common with them than me.No. Suburban is a term for a specific space. If you’re playing this game, why did you reference an article with county level data?
Why did you ignore than I even used your non-geographic definition of “suburban?”
You’re wrong on your terms and the real terms. Just deal with it and stop making your argument worse.
So depressing to see people that would self describe as "progressive" take such horrible positions.

This thread from Ben Wittes does a nice job of capturing my feelings about the Trumpist right and its enablers, a certain faction of the far left, our current predicament and what it all means for me in the future. Given the level of discourse on this thread from both sides, it feels appropriate to leave here.
