Optimist take: Samuel/Byrd should be back and Rivera can’t not play Moore after that tuddy so our WR corps will at least be shaken up and dudes won’t be able to just go out there and dog it. Cam threw it well and our RBs are averaging over 5 ypc collectively. Just got to find our balance. For some reason I’m not worried about the defense. Think they’ve earned a mulligan.

The back shoulder throw from the end zone that funch dropped and the seam throw Thomas dropped were CAMVP throws. He’s humming it pretty nicely.

we didn't allow Julio to torch us as he has in the past, which is a development for sure. that 100-yard RB streak was going to come to an end at some point, pity it was against Atlanta's back-up (though who is pretty good on his own). we did well against Zeke last week. but we did give up plenty of runs to Ryan, which is worrisome.

yeah, plus a lot of good teams are 1-1 (or 1-0-1 in the case of Vikes and Pack). so a loss on the road to a very good divisional rival doesn't mean the sky is falling.

I agree with that, I only noticed 2-3 bad Cam throws, and many more excellent throws. We need to give CJ more carries, and stop trying to force it with McCaffree - he's obviously a better receiver than back, in our scheme with our O-Line, so let him loose.

it seems like most CMC plays are either run up the gut or screen passes. we had some nifty plays with him last year, but other than an option toss last week, haven't seen any of these supposed Norv innovations.

Our defense just isnt set up to stop QBs like Ryan, Brees, because they are very pocket savvy and only need 3 seconds to go through their reads and get the ball out.

olsen would have snagged that seam throw

the good news is that donte jackson looks legit
isaiah oliver was inactive again for the falcons

I am ready to start the Funchess to TE experiment. He’s not a true #1 WR but he could be a good pass catching TE. Only Moore has #1 WR potential.

Me too, although I like Thomas. I think Funchess would be a good compliment to Moore and one of Samuel/Byrd/Wright, but if he's your go-to receiver, you are screwed.

For the first 3 quarters, CMC was open every single time Cam dropped back. I wish we would have made them adjust to stop those easy check downs and open up the middle of the field.

Huh? Dude averaged close to 5 ypc and was trucking people all over the place when running up the middle. Until another skill position player other than Cam shows they can be productive (hopefully that is DJ Moore), they need to force the ball to CMC even more.

Agreed that the Funchize stinks. Kudos to Cam for trying to get him involved, but Moore and Wright should be #1 and #2 from here on out. Counting on either Samuel or Byrd to ever be healthy enough to consistently contribute is a fool's hope.

I made a similar comment watching yesterday. Cam could have dumped it off to CMC or tucked and ran for 5-7 yards on almost every passing play. Not sure why we tried to force the ball downfield when one or both of those options was almost always open.

So if Funchess can't catch the ball when he's open and it's a good throw as a WR why would he be better able to catch it as a TE ? I think he just had a bad game.

He had a 3rd down PI, juked out of his shoes which led to a 30 yard run, and gave up a 12 yard TD all on the same drive...

He looks serviceable I guess but other than the INT which Horton hit Ryan on he wasn't very good, IMO

I don’t know if he can. I do know he isn’t a #1 WR. Good to see what he can do before letting him go.

Eh, he only has 18 carries this season, so citing his <5 ypc is unconvincing. The majority of his chunk plays come on sweeps and tosses, like a scat back. He's an effective check down receiver, like a scat back. At only like 10 carries this season, Anderson still looks more capable of pushing between the tackles.

As I said a couple times during the game, that PI was total horseshit. Doesn't make up for the other plays, but if that had correctly been a no call that drive ends right there
