BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

I think now witnessing both options first hand in the ACC, id like to see our new coach effectively go the transfer route like Buzz Williams did. Seems like there’s less risk there.

Keatts and Buzz have both utilized the transfer route very successfully so far. As is Bill Self currently. It’s a viable route if done correctly. Interested to see if that continues once Buzz and Keatts get more established at VT and NCSU.

Buzz only has one transfer currently on the team, Ty Outlaw. He would have been gone by now but for 2 medical redshirt years. Buzz has made offers to a couple of JC players for 2019.

I know this has been said a million times, but it's especially tough for wake to take transfers (JuCo or otherwise) because of our divisional requirements and the (perhaps) unreasonably high standards we use to determine which credits transfer.

I remember being pissed as a dumbass high schooler that wake wouldn't transfer some of my AP credits because they were 4s. Carolina was accepting 2s and 3s.

MDMH or anyone else that came in as a transfer any insights?

Wake has had a policy of not accepting JuCo transfer athletes unless they were fully qualified coming out of HS.Some time ago Wake went to a policy of not accepting JuCo credits for transfer. And, as noted above, is very picky about even transfer credits from other four year schools. All these policies have a significant impact on recruiting.

We haven’t had any problem taking transfers from D1 institutions, man. We have had a UNCC transfer pipeline in the Manning-era.

As far as I know, Woods was an excellent student. Can you remind me who our other recent transfers have been? (Excepting 5th year graduate-transfers, obviously)

Watched the first full game Bilau played at Spire with LaMelo Ball and team. Bilau is the real deal, should be a 4-star. Would be our 2nd best commit if he comes here, slightly behind Massoud. Bilau should be top 150 though, is without a doubt underrated. I take back any shit I talked about him, he would be a good get.

Tyrese Samuel was reportedly scheduled to announce this weekend. I guess he still has like an hour and a half?

Maybe Danny was burning the midnight oil trying to talk Tyrese into joining us on #newbeginnngs

To me the tea leaves say that Samuel was headed to Wake, and that our loss to Houston Baptist has given him pause (rightfully so).

That makes sense, Wrangor.

Or perhaps Akok Akok, who has a couple of the same schools in his final list (Pitt, Georgetown), making it known he's declaring soon and enrolling for the spring semester changed things. Or perhaps none of it means anything and he just needed more time.

I think he is waiting on Akok's decision too.

He was probably coming to wake before we lost the Houston Baptist
