WHY is he still our basketball coach?

Does anybody know what duties Wake has under its agreement to be in the ACC? I'm assuming there is something about making a good faith effort to field competitive teams? Is there a legitimate argument at this point that Wake is failing to meet its obligations to its conference partners?

Our role in the conference is to be good at the sports that you would find at a Country Club's sports day. Golf, Tennis, Soccer, etc.

Have you not read the contract? It's in the Miller Center.

You guys need to look under the hood. It's all right there.

I'm confused. I thought Ted Turner owned the Hawks ?

No, no, no, "Mit Shah" owns the Hawks. You amateurs keep running with that, let the adults do the negotiating. Blank and Manning will call you over from the kiddie table when they're done.

Could be that in the negotiations to keep wake in the ACC, Wellman promised to keep the shittiest basketball coaches possible so that all of the other conference members could get their easy win.

Come on man! Everyone knows that Jami Gertz owns the Hawks now. Get with the program Say Hey!

Do you think anyone would've noticed if some rich parent bribed their kid onto the Wake bball team? The general performance certainly suggests this has been a constant pipeline for the past decade.

Perhaps, especially considering that the father of our next coach wasn't able to successfully bribe his son onto the Wake basketball team.

i was hoping that was the case. as bad as the team is, maybe currie could finagle some stuff and say manning was involved. who wouldn't believe it based on the results. PM me for details ;)

you mean Jay Bilas?

Bilas did it with a son who can’t play a lick but Miller couldn’t do it with a son who could have started for us. Very Wake Forest.

Jim Justice (Richest dude in West Virginia and the current Governor) coached Rondale

Makes you wonder

Wake has "sold" walk on spots since I was there over a decade ago. I remember Graeme Keith was given a walk on spot and daddy is loaded. Big time real estate developer. Rumor was dad gave a big donation that coincided with his getting the walk on position

Throughout my relationship with the game – from watching my father play to playing myself to now coaching – I have witnessed the game of basketball expand from a recreational past time to high profile events that impact the way our society views collegiate athletics. My outlook and philosophies on the game have evolved with the times as well, but one important belief remains: organized basketball has a direct link to the development of our country’s youth. Collegiate basketball has the ability to reach communities by providing entertainment, physical development, social interaction and business opportunities. For the student-athletes, the game helps them to build character in terms of teamwork, loyalty and self-sacrifice.

In order to continue and develop as a coach, I constantly strive to study and learn new concepts of and within the game. Through this growth, I believe I have a greater understanding of what it takes for a student-athlete to achieve success on and off the court. I base my coaching philosophy off three pillars: commitment to hard work, a pledge to spare no effort and a willingness to sacrifice oneself for the betterment of the team.

I never lose sight of the responsibility of a coach.

I believe that the game of basketball is an amazing vehicle through which to teach important life lessons that are applicable in all areas of life. The game, when taught well, can teach hard work, discipline, competition, enthusiasm and passion. In today’s society, in which wins and losses tend to be the clearest markers of success, it becomes all to easy to dismiss one of the most crucial responsibilities of a collegiate coach: to teach accountability. I hold myself to the highest level of accountability to teach and model that value to my players, and in turn they will hold themselves and their teammates accountable.

By embracing the concepts of hard work, effort, sacrifice and accountability, players become prepared for life, obtain degrees and championships are won.

Sincerely,

Danny Manning

there is only 1 thing left for the "fans" to do. those that still will show up, do not cheer...boo.do not support any part of this. enough of they are kids...they believe in someone who is completely clueless...and continue to do so. make this program a national laughingstock by insanely accurate posters...come up with uniqe ways of publicly shaming manning and this dumb AD. this is the last hope

I just had an idea- Since HPU is swimming with loan money, maybe give Nido Qubein a call to help offset Manning's buyout, with the condition that Wellman doesn't try to hire Tubby away.

Win-win.
