2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

Dems could nominate John Kasich and the Republicans would spend hundreds of millions painting him as a socialist who wants to destroy Medicare and raise taxes.

It's not feelings.

It is 100% "evidence" that relieving college debt only impacts 1 of 4 Americans. It's "evidence" that Trump's support comes from the other 75% and would be invigorated to vote more because of taxing them to cover people they already envy and hate. Now, you are taking their money to pay for people who make more.

You can dream all you like but this is a hanging curve for Trump.

As to "evidence" about healthcare, the GOP is already attacking that.

You can tie the two together for nine figures of "Trump cut your taxes, increased employment. Now, Bernie/Warren PROMISE to raise your taxes and TAKE away your insurance."

Regardless of how true that may or may not be, a ubiquitous set of advertising it for several months would re-elect Trump.

Public Option For All would do very well and not give the GOP an easy target. In the end, the results would be the same.

This is true. However, when it's true about Bernie or Warren it will get legs.

Trump's debate strategy against Warren would be just to reply "Whatever you say, Pocahontas" while doing the jerkoff motion

^This. It doesn't matter who "debates" Trump next year, he'll follow the same strategy he did last time. He'll make up some "clever" derogatory nickname for whomever his Democratic opponent is (with Warren he already has one, but he'll nickname any Democratic candidate.) He doesn't debate in the traditional sense of the term, so the substance probably isn't going to matter. He'll just hurl insults and one-liners, steal the spotlight as much as possible, and generally make an ass of himself like he always does. And his base will love it. Any Democrat who debates Trump next year needs to be ready for such behavior and have a plan to respond. Just walking out and calmly and earnestly trying to discuss things like healthcare policy and global trade won't cut it, because Trump doesn't care. He'll just repeat the same canned lines and lies that he does in his rallies over and over, and focus on his insults and other ridiculous behavior.

I'm sincerely interested to see if 4 years is enough time for the Dems to learn how to debate Trump. Surely someone can figure out you fight fire with fire. If he pulls a "sleepy joe" comment, the response is "yeah, let's hear from cadet bone spurs on this issue." Call him out, to his face, for paying off porn stars and claiming to represent family values. There are literally hundreds of these responses. That twitter thread (the author's name escapes me) on how they defeated a white supremacist in Louisiana was spot on. This doesn't need to be a policy debate. It needs to be a good v. evil debate.

+1.

As usual, MHB gives nothing of substance.

If you don't believe that the GOP could turn people out on the college debt forgiveness issue, you are living in a dream world. How much more exacting of an "us vs. them" could you hand Trump than having his supporters be taxed to pay off the college debts of people who are already making more money (on average) than they are? Talk about an easy resentment issue, this is it.

RJ are you going to vote for Delaney?

As I said before, feelings aren't evidence.

Yep, Dems need to realize this ain't an organized debate with rules. They should insult Trump on stage with almost every answer. He has no self-control.

It's been done already. That was Trump's MO in 2016. He played blue collar and rural against the "elites" as the cornerstone of his campaign.

My bad, I'm using actual historical facts versus your dreams.

All you can say is "feelings aren't evidence". You have no evidence that the general public (75% of whom will pay taxes for others) would support you. However, we have actual actions by the same person on the other side.

RJ are you going to vote for Delaney?

I've never said anything like that.

It's kinda odd that people on CNN and MSNBC are finally coming around to what I've been posting since Trump won regarding the age of Dem nominees. The party line seems to be "Dems have never won with a candidate who is over 54 (I said 60) or who has run and lost in the past."

An honest question- how many times do I have post that it's time to have a new generation - before many here pay attention?

What am I thinking? I'm old and I'm RJ. Those are all that matter to so many here.

I've got it now.

Pete is doing that. I can’t believe I haven’t seen more glowing write-ups about him looking right at the camera and telling Republicans that they’ll be remembered by how they supported Trump. That was a big moment in the debate.

maybe your arguments are just trash.

And you are too lazy to dispute them.

Or you realize what I said is the historical reality and you can't. How did Trump turn PA? MI? WI?

What am I thinking? MHB knows more than anyone and the historical record is immaterial to him.

Yeah I thought Pete fared well last night. Just solidified the top tier candidates IMO - warren Bernie and Pete succeeded and looked presidential. Most others looked like pretenders.

Bernie looked like the epitome of "Get off my lawn" last night.
