And as we all know, the US is the only country with people dealing with mental health issues
 
I'll always remember Frank Zappa playing a Senate committee about labeling rock lyrics like the cheap, uninformed yahoos they were. He also told them we needed to watch out for intellectual property theft and the losses it would create.

Seems so much easier to just ban automatic weapons and hand guns than to devise some giant government system to study its citizens and determine which ones are eligible to purchase which products. Just ban the fucking guns.

Trump is a buffoon but this is yet another example of why the MSM is a joke.

 
This talk of red flags and background checks really just falls right into the NRAs talking points about the problem being mental health or video games instead of access to super deadly weapons. 923 is right, there have been hundreds of these mass murder events in the US in the last few years. Some are motivated by race, some by religion, some by jealous rage, some by mental health, etc. the only real common thread is easy access to mass murder machines. Amend the constitution to repeal or revise the second amendment.

That’s the point. The information needs to show up.

Restoring the assault weapons ban is obvious. I’m talking about flagging people who shouldn’t have a gun period.

Let's look at the low hanging fruit. There should be a federal law that if you have a domestic abuse conviction or plea. you are banned from buying guns and the police should confiscate any guns, rifles, etc., that you own. If there is a charge against you that hasn't reached court, you should have to relinquish your gun, rifles, etc. until there is a resolution.
 
My idea would be to include red flags as part of a package of reforms to make owning a gun like owning a car. If you’ve been flagged for something like making threats and getting suspended from school, your gun license is suspended for a period of time, then you can be re-evaluated.
