Wake-Boston College Thread

Dude, consider the poster. JB throws all sorts of crazy prognostications at the wall hoping that one will stick and he'll be able to claim nostradumbass status. Hell, he's had good hunches about [Redacted] and Manning in the past, amongst other absurdities.

Name the hunches. Not sure what you are talking about.

I HAVE been wrong before, but you seem to be just be pulling shit out of your ass.

For example, I said before the UNC game that Hinton would be fine and we likely held him out of the 2nd half vs. Rice just be cautious. THAT was a hunch proven wrong.

I have just noticed that Clawson is a big fan of the "late scratch," especially this year. Look no further than last week when Coby Davis was listed as the starter at safety. He didn't play. The week before that, Carney was listed as the starter on the UNC depth chart, didn't play.

So, honestly, I don't have too much of problem with the ole "consider the poster" post. But my "prognostications" are based on:

1. Newman was nailed on the knee by a Elon DE as he was following through on a throw. He went down awkwardly and it was mentioned in the broadcast
2. Newman was limping/hobbling a bit after that. Of course, there a number of RBs in history that limped after every carry. Billy Sims, Earl Campbell, to name a few. And it was all gamesmanship, but facts are he was hobbling
3. A few plays later he had his crazy 1-yard scramble. Yes, he looked fine, but he was hobbling/limping after that play too.
4. I couldn't tell if he was hobbled beyond that drive because I don't think he played after it.
5. Knees don't tighten up and lose mobility until several hours later to the next morning. At least that is my experience, and I 3 arthroscopic and two ACL reconstrutions to base my worries/fears on.
6. I am now officially an old or a near old and frankly my knees and even my ankles ache simply watching these kids take certain hits. Most of the time, they bounce up and are fine.

Such an awesome game with the all day tailgate, first time two ranked teams met in groves, picking off Ryan to seal it.

Nope - 1979 homecoming game matching #18 Wake against #13 Auburn (featuring Joe Cribbs and James Brooks)....also the best atmosphere with 35,500 fans in attendance. Down 38-20 at halftime, we came back to win 41-38. Questioning a non-call towards the end of the game, the Auburn coach said the refs were intimidated by the crowd.

Maryland beating Clemson in Clemson in a nooner on a last-second FG to bust the door wide open for us to the OB also added to that day's awesomeness

Are you sure about that?
I was thinking Wake was ranked when we beat Auburn in 1979. Believe Auburn was ranked 12 or 14.

Yes that’s correct. Even looked up the AP article from that BC game and it confirmed it. The details of that night leading up to and following the game are a bit fuzzy for some reason...

2006 game was a great memory. We need to get the stands packed like it was back then.

While I think Newman is fine...just watched condensed game and ELON clearly hit Newman just after the RPO, several times. Kind of like the old Oklahoma triple option...right after the pitch, nail the QB.

This is different. It looks more like a late, and dangerous (he’s exposed) hit.

Claw needs to address with refs prior to kickoff.

The mesh RPO is predicated on the QB running or being able to get out in front of the ball carrier to become an additional blocker. Defenses have to be allowed to come in and hit the QB in that situation, even if a little late. He's not protected when running that offense nor should he be.

2008 was the worst. We dominated them all game and they beat us on some fluke long throw. We go to the ACC title game with a win there.

A throw by Dominque Davis who was the backup QB before he ended up at ECU.

Running back is running with the ball and Newman is just standing there and gets hit. More than a little late. I understand the mesh.

And now suckin it up for your Ottawa Redblacks.

'08 was our best defensive year. If we had given Riley a shred of help in play calling or personnel around him coulda been an '06 level year, especially given how much the ACC sucked

Thanks for the civil response. I hope you are right. It looked bad.

Bringing 3 Deacs and a future Deac to the game. Looking for us to steamroll BC

Luginbil on Packer and Durham said if Wake Forest was in the Coastal it would be a runaway for the Deacs.
