Wake-Boston College Thread

Putting Cade out in space the few times we did is a mistake, IMHO. Walker or CBS could have broken off a few big runs with the design set up for Cade.

I’m glad we are 5-0. The only complaint is that we rely on the run way too much in short yardage situations. Chapman, Jack and Hinton were WIDE open on numerous occasions tonight when we could have kept drives alive, but settled for a 1-2 yard run instead. Go Deacs!!!

Plenty of things I can gripe about today, but bottom line we went and played a tough hard-nosed, motivated football team with a stud RB at their place and came out with the win. 5-0 and we have an off week to heal up and get better, hard to complain about any of that.

Newman is probably the best player in the ACC right now

He had an “off” day and still managed to complete 64% of his passes and rush for over 100 yards.

Agree. I hope we pulverize Louisville. Hopefully guys heal up and don’t lose any of the fire they’ve shown the last five games.

never take a road conference game for granted. We need to play better and I think we can, which is a good thing to say when you are 5-0.

The Deacs just played a football game in which they were never losing, the lowest ESPN’s win probability got was 56%, we won by roughly what the spread was, and I still don’t feel like we played our best. I don’t know what this feeling is, but wild times to be a Deac

Despite the stats, the defense played very well from what I saw. Sure, gave us some large pass and run plays, but they buckled down when it mattered and did better against the run than most. Playcalling was suspect, but maybe they had a plan that just got it done. Biggest win of the year.

Glad we can play poorly on O and still win. When firing on all cylinders we will be hard to beat.

Agree. Defense played bend but not break. Third downs much better. Play calling suspect and although Jamie put up numbers he made some bad reads resulting in turnovers. First half sage missing easy first down ball that he always catches put defense in a bad spot. Two red zone field goals. I think the defense played great. Offense could play better. And needs to.

As I say each week, my goal is to win the game and have little or no injuries. We did this yet again.
It wasn’t the prettiest, bit I’ll take an ugly win any day.
Besides improved skill and experience, I think our team has a mental toughness that won’t accept defeat.

Now, time to take a breather and prepare for the next segment of the season......one game at a time.

5-0 with 3 home games (all against very beatable teams) and 2 byes over the next 5 weeks. We are in a very good position.

Some drops were in there as well. Could have been much better. I was most impressed with his poise. He pumped Washington up when he drew that penalty that became off-setting that gave us another shot on 3rd down. Went back to him the next down for a TD. The last drive he was impreccable. Knew exactly what needed to be done. Big 3rd down conversions. Not everyone has that "it" factor. He has shown multiple times he has it. This is going to be a special season. Not sure how special, but Newman is the real deal.

17 3rd down conversions has to be near a school record I'd imagine. Great poise by Jamie

No crazy injuries and a win.... Against those running backs and O line... Phenomenal. Going to a nice relaxing two weeks with no regrets
