Wake-Boston College Thread

Wake would be lined up and ready with 20 seconds on tjr play clock, then Newman would hold and wait until the clock was down to 6 or fewer seconds. He would look at the D to see if they were napping. Otherwise he did a good job of burning clock by waiting to snap.

That drive did what it was supposed to do. BC had 28 seconds to cover 96 yards.

My blood pressure was abnormally high this afternoon, perhaps that caused my inability to see the play clock properly. ;)

Yeah what the fuck was that. Numerous absent yellow lines, especially on short yardage, and constantly being behind where a pass was going so you didn’t see what happened until after the fact (catch or incomplete)
There was also one point where there was a penalty being assessed on us, and they were talking over it and showing highlight footage from earlier in the year.
Fucking Amateur Night in Dixie. Lololololo

Can someone point me to the post or the link that had the records for FBS schools since November 2018, and Wake was like T-7th at 7-1.

I tried using the search feature but couldn't find anything. I know I read it either yesterday or the day before.

Please and thank you!

GO DEACS!!!

So many mixed feelings. So happy we won the game, 5-0 is terrific. Not at all convinced of how good we really are. Our O-line just worries me against more speedy, athletic defenses and our defense worries me against teams that protect well and throw the ball downfield. All the Jamie Newman hype is horseshit and I hope he's not paying any attention. And being in the poll in week 4 or 5 is also ridiculous to pay attention to. If we're honest we haven't shown the mentality to step on our opponents when they're down early, and we really tend to hang on and try not to lose in tight games. That doesn't inspire confidence. We could possibly win a lot of the remaining games, but Duke looks very aggressive and dynamic, FSU is starting to play a little better, Syracuse is tough in the dome, and Clemson is just gonna be way too difficult in Death Valley no matter what anybody thinks after their game today. And it would be foolish to simply think we beat State or Louisville just by showing up. If we find a way to get 8 wins I think that's a great job by the team.

5-0. Undefeated.

We should be beating teams by more. I’ve been disappointed in our game plans against BC and UNC. Felt we could’ve beaten both soundly and I’m not sure why we didn’t throw the ball much more and downfield.

Newman made a bad decision where I’m assuming he didn’t see the safety. He’s the real deal.

Our defense did their jobs. Gave up a lot of yardage but didn’t break. I was disappointed about our inability to contain the edge against BC but we did what we needed to win.

I feel like we got out-coached in terms of game plan. It’s not often Wake has enough talent to win an ACC road game against a solid opponent while being out-coached, but this team is extremely talented.

We won, on the road, against a good ACC team. Clemson only beat Carolina by 1 today. These don’t come easy.

We’re not playing to our full potential yet fellow Deacon fans. Get ready. This has all the makings for a special season.

Roll MF Deacs.

We're Wake Forest and we're 5-0 and people are bitching complaining about poor gameplanning and being outcoached. Jesus.

I think we can be better than we’ve been, which is a huge compliment considering we’re 5-0. “We’re Wake Forest” = LOWF attitude.

But anyway, here ya go:

So you’ll be happy going 3-5 the rest of the way when we'll likely be favored in every game but 1-2? What a trash post.

BC's biggest weapon on offense is Dillon. Therefore, the best way to limit his ability to hurt us is to keep BC's offense of the field. The best way to do that is to have long sustained offensive drives, keep their offense off the field and win the time of possession... which is exactly what Wake did (35 minutes to 25 minutes). If Wake continues their prolific passing game, those incomplete passes stop the clock and when we're stopped it puts our defense back on the field. Wake did exactly what they needed to do...keep the clock moving, maintain possession and put points on the board. How many plays were in our scoring drives? How many 3rd downs did we have? We picked our spots and went deep just a couple of times. Well done Coach and players!!

I got up and walked out when we went up 10 in the 4th. I couldn't take anymore. I posted heading out of Chestnut Hill, and I'm just starting to relax. This game came down to their delay of game penalty on a FG attempt. If not, goes for a 60yd FG for the win, instead of Maggio pinning them down on their 5 ydline. I saw Bothroyd run out onto the sideline with a female trainer trying to keep up with him. He and I need a week off.

Not sure what game you were watching - Jamie Newman was our best player and deserves the hype he’s getting. Offensive line is definitely a bit of a concern though. It was a crowded backfield on many passing attempts.

Sounds like your feelings aren’t mixed, you’re just all around miserable
