The 2019 College Football Thread ! LSU NATIONAL CHAMPIONS ! CLEMSON SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!

The NCAA is going to do something in this offseason to get the transfer portal under control.

Think Fields has good value at 10 to 1. If tOSU runs the table and if LSU struggles against Bama (both of which are reasonably possible), Fields will be in good position. Think that there is a little Heisman fatigue with OU QBs.

Fields did not graduate from UGA. He's not from Ohio, so it's not like he had to transfer to care for a sick relative. Why is he not sitting out?

Did Fields get to transfer without sitting out a year, because of the idiotic comment by the UGA baseball player? That would be so typical of the PC NCAA.

yes

Yep. Fields should definitely not be playing this year.

I don't have a problem with it

so much money being made on these guys -- fine by me to exploit some minor racist bullshit to avoid sitting out a whole year

it's possible that Fromm's emergence forced the transfer of two QBs who are better than Fromm

Shea Patterson got paid to go to Ole Miss and then got to transfer to Michigan without sitting out when they got hit by the NCAA. Tate Martell was eligible immediately at Miami because Urban Meyer retired - he left once Fields committed. Seems like if you have a decent lawyer, it's easy to prove "player hardship" to get a waiver.

Basically, the NCAA is a joke as always.

Eason is not a better college quarterback than Fromm. He has a bigger arm but he still hasn't figured things out.

And yet the kid who transferred to VT from Coastal Carolina to be closer to his cancer-stricken mother has to sit out, largely because Blacksburg is slightly too far from the mom's home by the NCAA's guidelines. Would the result have been different if he played QB rather than center? Or is it the fact that Coastal and VT are not premier programs? Is a little consistency too much to ask?

How the fuck did Mark Richt have a heart attack? That's the most laid back dude I've ever seen on television.

Actually, like him more than I thought I would, although it does feel like he is just hanging in his living room about to drift off into a nap. Richt doesn't hesitate to give WF props. Hope for a quick recovery.

I think the wheels would have to completely fall off for Taggart not to get to Year 3 at FSU.

I know the fan base hates him, but they have terrible QBs and a shit OL this year. These things didn't happen solely because of Taggart. The man also has a reputation for turning around programs after shitting the bed in Year 1 (and to a lesser extent, Year 2).

Look at what Matt Ruhle has done at Baylor in Year 3. That's the blueprint.

Or maybe I just want Taggart to coach at FSU forever because I love it when they suck.

EJ is my favorite of the studio crew

The 2019 College Football Thread ! Alabama Still Nuber #!1

I think the days of UF, FSU, and Miami being dominant programs is over.  Just too much competition for in-state talent.  They can’t build the depth like they used to with UCF, USF, FIU, and FAU out there. Not to mention more programs can recruit nationally, including in FL. I think the most we’ll see is two FL teams staying ranked over the course of a season.

The FL, TX, and CA schools have fallen off. Too many programs and too much competition for in-state talent. The perrennial top programs are one or two program states. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin. They can get top in-state talent and can recruit nationally. Even look at Boise State’s roster.  Consistently one of the best G6 programs.  It’s a few ID kids and the rest are almost all CA and TX.

The best part of the FSU coaching last game was Taggart saying today they knew they were gonna kick the last field goal leading up to third down then after third down they called timeout wasting one they could’ve used. Inexcusable
