I'm so confused. Is the Democratic party supposed to denigrate or court swing voters??? Shoo, please advice.

What is the Ph solution? These folks aren't really going for Pete, so what does a) Pete do or b) the other candidates do? I'm of the mindset that Warren/Castro would target a lot of those groups. Sanders, probably, too. Biden will have older folks falling in line, but would require a ton of DNC input/effort to GOTV to younger voters.
So, your solution is to shut down political discourse until when exactly? You don't think limiting discourse has a similar effect on folks? I know for a fact that it turns young people off to be told to "shut up and fall in line."

That's the upshot of what you said. Basically, limiting discourse makes older and moderate Democrats feel more comfortable with the state of things while limiting voter turnout among younger voters. Condemnation of candidates that the voters that Kendi identifies isn't going to prevent those voters from supporting progressive candidates. It will piss off Buttigieg, Klobuchar, and possibly Biden voters, but it's not going to deter Sanders or Warren voters.
You aren't listening to the theory being put forward by me and, I think, PH. Here it is: Negativity among candidates and their supporters during the primary, dampens enthusiasm and decreases turnout during the general. It's a valid worry and it fits both the centrists and the progressives within the party. Here is what I worry about, shitting on Bernie as a dangerous and crazed old socialist will lead a substantial number of old white centrists to vote third party in November if (when) Bernie is the nominee, just like shitting on Biden as a corporate stooge and closeted racist will likely depress youth voter turnout in November if he ends up as the nominee. The Dems need all the enthusiasm they can get because 90% of our votes are packed into a handful of districts in most states. That enthusiasm has to spill over out of the cities and into the suburbs and country side in-order to unseat the actually racist kleptocrat currently in the White House. Enthusiasm among Black and the less that 30 crowds is essential to any Democrat winning, and yes, nominating the candidate that will maximized black and youth turnout is the best approach but a back up plan should involve minimizing negativity towards the other candidates so that the people we need to be enthusiastic later don't feel meh about our candidate when November comes.
The US has always been multiple parties that mostly coalesce into two groups. I would say the parties are divided more by race/class/religion than ideology except for the multiracial far left.
Why do you keep repeating this? Trump made it up.
