Taggart just got canned and starts the Coaching Carousel early

Nickname for Chris Childers. Sports talk show host on ESPNU radio. He is a bright kid. Cum laude grad from Middle Tenn State. Played football there. He works with Rick Neuheisel on the radio. Mostly talks about college football.

Loves Taco Bell

Yes because in 12 years nothing changes. Magnolia Market, which takes up like 2 blocks of downtown, wasn't even there. The campus has undergone multiple renovations since then. I haven't been to Waco since 2017, so more things could be there for all I know. However, basing statements on information more than a decade old, acquired in 1 weekend, seems dubious.

Flew into Dallas late on Wed afternoon, drove to Waco and slept. Toured the town and campus, went to the game on Thurs night and left on Friday morning. Actually, the old stadium wasn’t that bad. Yes, it was hot and it was about 12 years ago. The place could have had a HPU metaphorphisis since then for all I know.

And Chip & Joanna, Disney World, and a whole bunch of other people and things. I agree with Neuheisel that his juvenile humor gets out of line at times ("Get yourself together") but they have one of my favorite shows of any type of talk radio.

Metaphorphisis is one of those words that seems like a typo but is just fancy enough that it could be a real word.

Your instinct was right, that’s a typo. Metamorphosis.

And if you already knew that then I have no idea what your post is trying to say

Agree... I listen as much as possible during the season, but then pretty much not at all the rest of the year. They have good chemistry. Have gained a lot of respect for Neuheisel from listening to that show... Enjoy his takes on the Xs & Os, but I think he's at his best when talking about broader themes in the sport and pressures on college coaches.

I had listened to Neuheisel a bit before this show and liked him. It's nice that he has good knowledge of the best teams rathern than just a bunch of PAC 12 crap. He played in Athens in the 1983 opener, first game after Herschel's jump to Trump's NJ Generals. Neuheisel threw a Pick 6 to ice the game.

I'm sure the folks in Blacksburg are thrilled with their coach right now.

VT fans were not particularly happy with Fuente even before this. I know that the Hokie fanbase has been particularly disappointed with VT recruiting under Fuente. For the class of 2020, VT signed/received commitments from 2 players ranked in VAs top 30 (same as WF). Penn State signed 4, including 3 of the top 10. When VT was at its best, they dominated HS recruiting in VA.

If VT has a mediocre (or worse) season in 2020, the movement to dump Fuente will get only stronger.

The fact that Fuente took his name out of the running for the Baylor job may mean that Baylor would not commit to hire Fuente as he knows that he may not be welcome much longer in Blacksburg.

Replacing a legend is always tough and the Hokie Nation's expectations aren't always realistic. Interestingly, the Wahoos also struck out in VA recruiting this year for the most part. The staff changes at VT may bear fruit but Fuente can't count on being bailed out by JUCOs and transfers forever.

Weird to read a post about UVA and VT that isn't from cville.

Pretty amazing that not one player ranked in the top 12 in VA signed with an in-state school. Doesn't bode well for the long-term success of either program.

Napier has stated that he is staying at ULL.

I think we've probably made our decision and the announcement will be coming soon. The ones that didn't receive the offer have been told and are tweeting that they are happy where they are.

That's a stunning stat. Virginia isn't a particularly talent heavy state. They only have 6 4* or 5* prospects compared to 12 in NC according to 247. (By comparison, FL has 61.)

Wake signed three 3-star players from NC for 2020, ranked #32 to #58 in the state, btw.

Yes, WF's in-state recruiting is and has always been a concern. That said, WF has traditionally been really good at finding in-state talent that was under-ranked. For example, UGA's starting QB in 2020 and apparent Heisman candidate was the #30 ranked prospect in the NC HS class of 2020.

Really ? I'd say Wake has traditionally performed to a level you would expect with middle of the road 3-star talent.

It's easy to see why VT has been hitting the Triad and Charlotte in the past couple of years. They are closer to B-Burg than the DC area with more targets.
