Donald Impeachment

GOP defense logic: If Trump shot someone on 5th Avenue he would not be charged with murder bc in his mind he was doing it for the best interest of the country
"it is not illegal if the President does it"

Of course.

Anything anyone does is always justified.

To them.

So no biggie.

Rule of lawlessness.

Thx Pubs.

Just listening the last 20 minutes. Have any of the Republicans asked Schiff any questions. They talked about making him a witness.

This format is dumb. Both sides should get a chance to answer the question.

I was just about to post that these Trump lawyers' arguments are so terrible you'd think Junebug was there, but here we have Junebug pretending he doesn't agree with at least one of the arguments.

This Philbin guy is just making laughable claims.

You’re dumber than I thought.

I’ve been clear from before this thread started that I supported Trump’s impeachment and removal. I think the democrats have made some pretty egregious tactical errors, but those mistakes haven’t changed my ultimate opinion.

Sure, buddy.

Some polls have Gardner down more than ten points. This is not going to help him win.

When I identified as a conservative many years ago, before the GOP went crazy, I could never conceive that "small government" conservatives would ever agree with the notion that the Executive can do whatever the hell it wants as long as the President thinks it will get him re-elected. It is hard for me to believe that anyone with even a passing acquaintance with the ideals of the Founders would respond to such a notion with anything short of outright incredulity and condemnation, much less the party that claims to be in favor of a limited government and individual freedom. And yet here we are.

Not to speak for all 5 (or is it 6?) "small government" conservatives who dared to post on The Tunnels since its inception, however, I know of at least one who does not agree with the notion the president can do whatever the hell he wants as long as he thinks it will get him re-elected.

And yet it's possible to hold this opinion and still laugh at all of the left-wing propaganda (and those who bought it hook, line and sinker) which ramped up shortly after election day 2016 to reverse the results of the election.

Well, that in and of itself was something ginned up by the right wing media. I never talked to a single person that thought the results should be overturned. Rework the electoral system? Sure. Arrest him? Some. Trump will inevitably get impeached? Most definitely. But reverse the results of the election and replace Donald J Trump with Hillary Clinton? Nope.

I'm sure there was a negligible amount out there, but I never came across one. Both sides should strive to not extrapolate the worst characteristics of small portions of the opposing party. I see it all the time on Facebook, but these boards can be better!

For the most part, the Trump attorneys are a joke, but Patrick Philbin is legit and doing pretty well.

Yeah, no. Let's see: he said calling witnesses who didn't testify before the House would set a dangerous precedent. Every past impeachment trial the Senate completed included new witnesses.

He said: "You don't show up at trial and then try to call witnesses for the first time." Yeah, that's bullshit.

He keeps lying and saying the House didn't try to get Bolton. Roberts enjoys sitting and watching him lie.

He's also arguing that the criminal beyond a reasonable doubt standard should apply -- although we are way past that, he's pulling that directly from his puckered asshole.

Well the secretary of the garden club in Potterville, MA said Hillary should take his place!

Yeah “reverse the results” is a rube talking point dumb dumb

Sekulow and others keep going on about removing a duly elected president vs letting the voters decide. Schiff had a good response today that that's the point of us having a tool like impeachment and if the Founders wanted it only to happen in the second term they woulda specified.

It also seems like they forget that if Trump was impeached Pence would become President and they could just elect him twice and get 8+ years of Pence.

Unless they’re worried Pence could get impeached too.

Their base doesn’t love Pence like they love trump. The crude angry rhetoric is the point.

Sure. But the way presidential elections work is you elect a president and VP knowing that if the president is impeached and removed the VP becomes president. So it’s not erasing the election at all.
