All the “culture” stuff Wellman sycophants blame on Gaudio happened before Wellman gave him an extension.

I think Wellman had some amorphous culture in his mind when he made the move. But we heard from many that there were some awful unmentioned things going on in the athletic department and this move kept us from getting in major trouble.

That was bullshit.

Right. The math never worked out. Gaudio got an extension before the season. The AD spin was that Dino a bad culture and we would have gotten disciplined by the NCAA if we hadn't fired Dino (people actually said that) despite getting an extension 6 months before.

The simplest explanation has always been that Wellman saw Butler and Gonzaga winning with "four year players" and he got tired of Dino falling short in the postseason and losing players to the NBA. Wellman fired Gaudio based on lack of postseason success and made a pitch to Brad Stevens that was quickly rejected. Then he turned to bringing his buddy Jeff over to coach. He couldn't justify that with the postseason success so he turned to "culture" which was an amorphous term likely meaning winning like the mid-majors. The AD sycophants then took that and ran with all kinds of vague rumors that were left unchecked by the AD and Dan Collins and eventually spouted on ESPN to justify losing.

And to answer your question: I don't care about Wake Basketball right now to any significant degree. Certainly not enough to go to a game (and pay money) at the Joel. That would be silly.

Actually there was a senior executive in the triangle who was recently publicly fired for violating workplace standards.

So this sexual harassment happened in a period from 6th months to a year after the Cleveland State incident and within 6 months of the contract extension?
If so, I am sure it violated the terms of his contract and Wake should have fired him for that.

If true we ended up paying a bunch of money to look foolish and to antagonize the fanbase to protect some perceived image that would have actually been bolstered by taking a position here that this type of behavior is not acceptable.

Good point.

The rumor I have heard is that Wellman made sexual advances toward Dino and was rebuffed. Wellman was particularly sexually frustrated so he decided to fire Dino and hire someone he knew would accomodate his needs.

I don't want to be accused of spreading false rumors and I do not have any direct knowledge of the veracity of this rumor but it seems more logical than anything else Wellman has said.

To be fair, none of it makes sense so people try to come up with or latch on to some explanation. Firing Dino is still incredibly perplexing, especially considering how patient we've been with his two successors.
