Snow

Big sloppy flakes (2&2s favorite) starting in CLT. Short term models showing up to 3 inches now, and a bunch more for the Triangle and points east. We'll see though, as warm as it still is.

Dont think ive ever seen as much snow amount to as little as this
Snowed at a decent clip for 6 or 7 hours and maybe we got .75"
Very dense and wet snow
In mid afternoon during the heaviest snow some parts of roads started to get slushy but as rates backed off they melted

WSFCS cancelled for tomorrow. That's a head scratcher. Even if the roads ice up a bit tonight, this feels like it should have been just a 2 hour delayed start...

Isn’t the temp supposed drop later in the morning?

I guess we’re done. Hope the roads dry up overnight.

As expected, there is not one flake in my yard, driveway, street, etc. Bone fucking dry. Again, no matter how much it snows, this is what happens when the ground gets nowhere close to freezing. Simple science that those who are supposedly educating children do not seem to understand. This is Danny Manning-level instruction and administration.

My wife is SAH so it really doesn't impact me, but the hypersensitiviity about closing schools now is something else. When I was growing up, this wouldn't have even warranted a delay in Guilford County.

If both parents work, it is a major inconvenience for them.

It is forced by the asinine collective mentality that, despite all of the advancements in automotive technology, driving through some snow flurries or near some ice is as dangerous as driving through an active volcano.

Add in that school doesn't start in this state till Labor Day because we want to protect a few loser hotel owners on the coast and any alterations to the school calendar keep the kids in school till almost the end of June.

Sometimes 2 and 2 drinks too much rageahol in regards to snow closures, but dude is dead on today. Laughable, man. And Biff's right too. I have no idea how the beach lobby wields so much freaking influence on the school calendar in NC, but they definitely do. It fucks up my summer basketball calendar royally. We basically have June for our summer workouts as football and dead periods steal July, and we extend exams so late into June that there ends up being almost no calendar to work with.

There are summer camps in NC that begin before public school lets out. It's not like they can squeeze in another session in late August.

Virginia just broke the chains and school can now start in August. So there's hope.

These people are pathetic in every way.

I think the hypersensitivity is really driven by those that look at any risk as unacceptable. In office culture, the "bug what if" mentality is rampant, and leads to shit like this.

My father, who at 84 is more than a touch on the curmudgeon side and has nothing to do, has begun calling the TV stations when they are wrong/oversell the bad weather. Like a few times a week. For years. Blows them out for it. The Charlotte NBC station hangs up on him now the moment they hear his voice.
