BBall Recruiting Thread 2k20 - Watson/Adams - Gibson/Bailey ('20) & James ('21) Gone

I graduated in 65, grew up in NC in the 50's and am not racist. Just making sure no one stereotypes me.

Already s-typed, dude. Ready for your obit.
All I know is that the only two people, one the AD and the other the Prez, who actually have anything to do at this moment with our b-ball program, sure look white to me.

Maybe high school aged kids today, but in the mid 90's through about 2012, a lot of kids learned about Wake by hearing about players like Duncan, Paul, Teague, etc. Even a tragic loss to Cleveland State as a 2 seed brought attention to the school that we haven't had (except kinda sorta in 2016) in a decade.

This is true. I got a good buddy that started at Wake the year after Dino was fired. Basketball was a reason why he attended.

What Dutch said was racist under any definition.

" Dutch Deacon 65 View Post
Manning never recruits good white players"

There's no way around that being racist as well as ignorant and false.

Especially since outside of his luck job with the great John Collins, he doesn’t recruit good players period.

Gee, that was rather mean.

You have to believe Ben Sutton and the other Trustees have something to say as well.

RJ: I don't care what you think. Of course its a racial statement since every year there are complaints about there not being enough pocs in coaching positions I can certainly add my opinion to the mix. I just state what many people are thinking. Manning may recruit good white players but they rarely come to WFU

Genuine question...Are we talking about white Americans, white international players, or both? Because if we are talking about white Mericans, we haven’t gotten but a handful in the past 30 years. Songalia, Vytas, Dinos wouldn’t count.

We could count Chas Mc and Visser. I guess Marc Blucas and Rusty Larue. Buzzellick al ost had us Isaac Haas.
Should be

Chase Fischer ended up being good for BYU so I don’t count him.

I don’t count arians because he’s a postgrad.

I know this is a joke, but if Dutch Deacon did graduate in 1965 and he enrolled in 1961, Wake Forest was still segregated when he enrolled as a freshman and we made the Final Four his freshman year. Poor guy probably connects the two.

I never attended WFU. 1965 has nothing to do with a graduation year. Just a fan who goes to most of the football games-including a number of bowl games. Used to have season basketball tickets for years and dislike the demise of WFU basketball.

I think Chaz left after his Sophomore year....Marc and Rusty-decades ago. Noting whie players in general.

Tyler Cavanaugh wound up being alright at George Washington and has a career still going overseas. But, I guess he'd be along the same lines as Fisher.

Sadly, you're probably right.
And, if you're timeline is right, it means he likely grew up in the 1950s, which obviously shaped his worldview.
Of course, we don't know where he grew up precisely, but everywhere then, just as now, was pretty bigoted.
This isn't the first time Dutch has posted "dog whistle racist" crap either.
The guy's a fucking dinosaur.
shogun: you know nothing about me or my world view. I stand by my statement concerning Manning and his non recruiting of good white players so you can choke on your dog whistle.
