Steve Forbes

OMG how dare Steve Forbes act such a way... LOL I bet WFU22FAN is about to have a heart attack. He was totally against hiring Steve Forbes based on his character. Whoever you are WFU22Fan make sure you don't go to another game because he doesn't meet your "Wake Forest Standards"..
Exited for the new start to Demon Deacon basketball...
PS: Whats up Freeman...

There is more energy and passion in this short 5 seconds than we have seen in 10 years combined. So happy to see this energy and passion from Forbes. Can't wait for basketball season. Even if we are not great next year at least we HAVE to be more fun to watch. Plus I can look towards the bench and not want to vomit.

Edit: Sorry I don't know how to repost that video and I'm too tired to figure it out right now...but y'all know what the video looks like.

Dating back to the '04-05 season, every team with Forbes on its coaching staff has won 20+ games, with the exception of the 2010-11 Tennessee team that won 19 games and still made the tournament.

Didn't realize until listening to his pod with Goodman that he had coached under Loyola Chicago's Porter Moser (@ Illinois State), in addition to Pearl and Gregg Marshall. Three dudes that have made Final Fours -- not bad

This video may come back to bite him 1) graduate students 2) win championships. No wake coach has done this in almost fifteen years. Currie setting up Forbes for over committing and under delivering. Also interesting no one on the hiring committee had any basketball expertise/ experience.
You serious Clark?

No different than what you’d hear at a presser. Just a fair bit more (melo)dramatic. These are the goals of every college coach in the country. Except by some strange coincidence our last two.

Dude is a stone cold winner.

“I think people forget, I guess, that I coached at Tennessee, Wichita State and Texas A&M, and I signed maybe 10 top-100 players during that time out of high school. You recruit to the job you have. You recruit to win at the job you have. We found our niche at East Tennessee State. Why would I not recruit JuCo when I can go get some of the best ones in the country, and I have those relationships, and I’m not in an area that produces a lot of high school players at the Division I level?”

Here’s some clarification for those who think he won’t be able to recruit at this level.

I’ll be rooting for this guy hard to win some games over the next 5 years. But he hasn’t won a single one yet.

The 2020 world is so, so different. Everyone thinks we won. If we’d of hired Amaker we would have lost. Both would be 0-0 tonight.

Yeah, you’re right. We would have been better off with Miller and his 30-0 record you’d have given him before the first game.

Maybe root a little harder than that?

DR will have a lot of UNCG basketball games to attend over the next five years. He'll do what he can

I love how we hired a 55 year old and people think we missed out chance to hire a guy who could be coaching for the next 30 years. If Wes really wants this job, it will be here for him whenever Forbes hangs it up. Hopefully Wes keeps winning.

Wes knew days ago he was not getting the job. I think DRs info likely bears that out. This was like manning being kept in the finalist list for top recruits out of respect and charity.

Here. We. Go.

One person thinks that.

Wake just inked one of only two D1 coaches to have won 30 games last season! (Few).

Think about that!

I will be rooting hard. I think Forbes is a massive upgrade for us. He’s a great hire. He was my 3rd choice. I doubt seriously Wake has ever even got close to hiring my 3rd choice.

My point here was the same as it was when it looked like we may be hiring Amaker. A hiring cannot be evaluated on Day 1.

That sure seems to have changed in 2020. I will be calling it a win when it actually is one. I’m betting it will be too. But the scoreboard is still 0-0.

Currie, though, he’s already a win. He’s the bomb!
