A majority of the gop electorate believes that the entire planet cooked up a global pandemic to “get trump”. It’s a cult dude, time to accept that. The rubes LOVE djt. They don’t tolerate him. They don’t hold their noses and vote for him. They adore him.

trump may very well lose in 2020. I hope he does. Lord knows he should. He should have in 2016. There is no new info about the guy since then though. He’s the same ignorant, unqualified, narcissistic asshole he was 4 years ago. He’s been that way his entire life. He’s a piece of shit. He wasn’t the only one with a populist message in 2016, but he was the one gop voters wanted by an overwhelming margin.

Cotten doesn’t have the mean streak. The cruelty is the point. trump’s a piece of shit person, and that’s exactly what gop voters want.
Not only do they adore him, but find me one Trump supporter who doesn't get their jimmies rustled something fierce whenever someone tries to attack him. It's like Duke jump circle defending on steroids

It sounds like you might not be in lockstep with today's Republican party

I'm also not sure that Tom Cotton believes most of those propositions in your fourth paragraph

Also, being good at school doesn't always equal smart, just fyi

No shit, ya donk. I’m allowed to make predictions, and a prediction doesn’t equal an endorsement.

If Biden wins especially if it’s a blue tsunami, it’s going to be interesting how Republicans position themselves.

Let’s say the COVID-19 death toll is between 250-300K in mid-November. Biden won in a landslide to the point Republicans can’t even challenge the win in courts. Democrats get 52+ seats in the Senate and expand their lead in the House. But Trump is still at 88%+ popularity among Republicans. Do elected Republicans stand with Trump? After the new administration takes over, do they stick with Trump during all the indictments? Or do they distance themselves from him while risking his Twitter rage?

I bet the rubes abandon Trump the second he’s out of power. If he doesn’t have the ability to “punish the right people” anymore, what good is he?

How much national political power did he have as an ex-president?

Besides being the ideological litmus test for republican candidates from school board to presidential nominees until trump?

Had Reagan had a twitter presence, he’d have led that party for the rest of his life.

An inept federal government seems to be the goal of many in the Republican party. Sounds to me based on your post here that you should be a moderate democrat.

Yeah, probably. I thought nobody likes them either though!

Yeah, hard to call others a total loser when you become a total loser to everyone by virtue of totally losing.

Unfortunately I think Alzheimer’s inflicted Ronald Reagan would be very popular on Twitter.

Deacfreak07 did you forget he had Alzheimer’s or are you making a trump dementia joke

Anybody who thinks that Trump is going to go away if he loses doesn't know the man or his party. The GOP is Donald Trump, and vice versa, and that's not going to change (at least very quickly) if he loses. As others have said, the base adores him and if he loses they'll just believe that the election was stolen from him, or that he lost because of the evil librul mainstream news media being against him, or some other conspiracy-laden excuse. It's a pipe dream to think that the GOP base will suddenly dump him after cult-worshiping him for four-plus years. He'll continue his rage-tweeting and attack anyone who opposes or criticizes him, especially if they're Republicans. Hell, if he loses this year would it really be a surprise if he runs for the nomination again in 2024? He's crazy enough to do it, and even if he doesn't, he'll have a big say in who the next GOP nominee is. Trumpism - and Trump - isn't going away anytime soon, even if he loses in November.

Sure, but I was referring more to the #notallrepublicans stuff and your claim that Cotton is smart bc he went to a good school. TheReff has a Wake degree and Trump graduated from Wharton. Plenty of idiots do well in school.

I just think it's a dumb take to think that 60 million plus Americans are automatically bad people.

I also think you are conflating me thinking that he is objectively smart because of impressive academic achievements and competence in multiple careers with "he makes the most sense to me, therefore he's smart." I see what you're saying, but someone can be both smart and unappealing to you.

Maybe but I don’t think you can be a Trump supporter, at this point at least, and be that good of a person. Look at what he’s done, man. If you’re a good person and a Republican you can tell the pollster you don’t think he’s doing a good job. Only 6% polled did..

I am definitely conflating the two. Sorry about that!

If your aunt had nuts, she’d be your uncle.
