Better Call Saul, The Mafia Game. Indies Win! Gooner, GAT and Duff

a little more on policy lynch: manning actually played, and talked like a normal fucking human being, in vain as the policy lynch was happening no matter what. But you see that's how policy lynches work; if he keeps it up, he can be redeemed. we used to (at least I tried to) plynch gooner and look what a fine young man he has evolved into.

lol I cringe so hard at some of the old games I've gone back to do research on for my own games. I was a fucking shithead and reveled in being one and I am happy that I am much less of a shithead now. But yes, I was at one point perma-D1 lynch on the Suque. Took like 4-5 months or something crazy to not have that happen anymore.

cant argue this. I didn’t do anything particularly well this game. Just had more info than most anyone else in a game about info. I just had to keep the car out of the ditch.

Question tho: if I vote gooner in that last round do you feel this way?

Why would that change anything

Oh yeah that comment wasnt made at you

I actually think you are in a weird place where you dont actively play in the "circles of power" but often get dragged in because there is a certain group of people who follow and trust you

I do think QT has a point, though I dont take it as far. I think there are certain groups of people who (whether intentionally or not) form these circles that become "circles of power" because their ideas, when piled on top of each other, end up dominating everything.

I really don't think that's true, even Eagles has trouble summoning the dickriders these days. It certainly was once, when there were little pockets of e-friends and a wake vs md vs ks (lol nm who cares about ks) thing, and also tiers of quality in players. But many perceived lower q players have gotten better, a few perceived high q players have gotten worse, rommy went insane, ryala things post count is more important than anything else, and eagles has important business, so things are very level. I think we have also generally grown closer as a community with more mutual respect and friendlier conversations, except about things like manning and fucking redwing.

what is manning's deal?

I never played with him and everyone was out for blood day 1 and it was pretty unhelpful to civs (the point for some of you guys)

I look back and laugh, but that's because I never meant it, and one day I am sure I will e-pologize to all of you as part of a 12 step program.

Seriously though, this community is the best it's ever been both in skill and grace.

I mean that’s the point of the game, right? If you’re mafia you want to use that “group think” and when you’re civ you want to fight it. It’s why we killed nonny (independent, clear thinker) and eagles (elite player in his own tier that has a ton of fanbois).

the better players are better because they can pick and choose.

another part of it too is who you can and can’t read well. I read Toogs, doofus, townie, bym well. I cannot read gouda, jtp, Rommy, or eagles at all.

im far more apt to follow people who I can read and with whom I perceive a shared alignment (this is where doofus and I have gone sideways the last few games). I basically never follow eagles, Rommy, jtp or gouda. I’m always suspicious of their motives.

Final count - please PM with issues
Manning(6) - da, numbers, doofus, gooner, jtp, toogs

toogs was the only dirty mafia man on the policy lynch train, that lying bastard

Last game he was mafia, didn't participate substantively at any point, skated the entire game, and at one point through six game days had 33 total posts with single digit posts that were substantively about the game. I think he also threw in like three references in those 33 total posts to his ridiculous claim that allowed him to skate a few weeks ago and acted like there was something else going on there.

Because it would have meant you won

That doesn't make it any less stupid or the asterisk any smaller

Knowing who to RB, who we were killing, etc is just....lame. What's the point?

Pretty much this. Plenty of players play just for funsies (Da has been doing that for YEARS) but there needs to be some sort of activity and substance to people's play otherwise the game becomes about killing people for non-game related stuff. I thought jhawk's D1 was fine but I said I was going to do something and I did it. We have completely abandoned #killthequiets but generally it isn't needed anymore. But sometimes it is.

I'm not arguing with any of your points, I'm just saying that's probably what GAT meant.

Yeah, seriously. Fuck that guy... he never knows what he is talking about.

he has turned it into an art form and is a perfect player now. He's basically the fonz. No one wants to kill him, everyone wants to recruit him. He really only dies if investigated

Really think more people should have request new IDs. I should have won that easily if townie didnt investigate me.

Other than the huge mistake of adding that mechanic, I should have had your number at 7 or 8m to leave a winner and I should have let you win the money in the lotteries. The role and mechanic played out much better when I was writing it than it did in reality.

did you not think to ask him about it? i asked mod a bunch of questions about it before sending it out, and he answered all of them.

Did he ask questions? So many questions. He had about the most vanilla role you could have and wanted a new role hoping it came with powers or something exciting. I think numbers was simply bored and not happy about the reveal rule. I'm not sure he really heard my answers. He got very lucky. His request was made during the day. I explained he wasn't in danger and what the purpose of it was. He still wanted the new role. Da didn't answer and I told him that. He said he wanted it whenever it was confirmed. Da didn't confirm til after night was called. Had Da been around earlier, numbers would have gotten his new ID and then died with it that night.

I heard your answers, your answers were not particularly helpful. I told you multiple times I was not going to be around at night but wanted to be sure i got my request in so that I could be protected that night.

I specifically told you that I was not in danger of dying so I wanted to use it that night since I'd been cleared as a civ so I obviously did not want to use it during the day. You never addressed that at all and never gave any details about what was going on.

I also told you that I was not going to be around at night but I wanted the protection to kick in at night. You didn't assist me at all in reaching that process. You could have simply told me that there was no guarantee with the mechanics that I could hit the protection at night. Instead you just kept repeating confusing instructions that were not helpful at all.

I had no idea that there was an actual person out there approving or denying claims who had to respond for me to get whatever it was I was supposedly paying for with the money that I randomly got gifted.

To say I was not happy about the reveal rule is the understatement of the century. If someone is allowed to speculate about my role as the role cop in an investigative capacity and I cannot respond to it without breaking the rules, it's an entirely unfair situation. It's why GAT was able to railroad me.

i nailed bym in my 2nd post of the game, got that bastard down to a science. full disclosure i thought boston and nonny were mafia as well so im only 33% for this game

At least if I had died during the day had Da been around (despite explicit instructions that I did NOT want to use it during the day and I did NOT understand the instructions you provided me) I wouldn't have stuck around to be railroaded by ridiculous role restriction claims.

That Tejas also found the instructions confusing and I believe Townie also said he sought clarification, shows that the instructions were not clear.
