Political Chat Thread - All Topics & Rants Welcome

What a ridiculous post. As usual, you’re making up things I didn’t say and you’re doing so to make it seem ridiculous to speak out about the party in power.

Like usual, you'd rather complain about Republicans than hold your own party accountable. It's not about power. When Democrats get in office you'll continue to focus on Republicans. You aren't concerned with holding power to account, you're concerned with partisan sniping to no effect.

On an offshoot of the Wake Forest Sports message board, someone argued that PhDeac doesn’t like to criticize his own team.

The republicans are in charge of the Senate and the White House (and basically the Supreme Court), so working to unseat them is indeed holding power accountable.

Also it’s kind of a lame argument tactic to say “well in the future if X happens then you’ll be doing Y”

Trying to win elections isn’t the only responsibility of an opposition party, especially not when that opposition party is so brazenly fascist. Dems helped him confirm his appointees and approve his budgets and woke scolded him on Twitter. Just running in opposition isn’t enough.

Political power and economic power extend much further beyond whichever offices Republicans hold at any given moment. What you're talking about is just musical chairs. 95% of the political discussions on this board are retreads from the Bush administration, and we'll run them all back in 6 years when Republicans take power again, after Dems have once again squandered their temporary popularity.

As long as the politically engaged middle class is content to conduct 2 party politics as sports entertainment - a
never ending rivalry series, then we'll just cycle through this same bullshit until the sun turns black.

Democrats have had control of both houses of Congress and the presidency for two years since 1994. Perhaps voting them into power and actually giving them full power to change things instead of constantly bitching about how they have to compromise would be a better solution.

"We always lose, so stop telling us to change!" Maybe this perfunctory watercooler dialectic about Republicans isn't actually helping anything?

Lmao

“Quit telling us how to lose, we can do that on our own!”

Said supporters of a candidate the couldn't break the upper 30s and a movement that has been completely unable to flip a seat.

You guys are all hat and no cattle.

So what's the solution? Stay out of power with good ideas?

I know! We’ll split the difference between our convictions and the party in power between now and forever and someday some version of this bastard country will agree with us!

Drop the sarcasm and answer the questions.

Your purity standards don't even make any sense. Kamala Harris has one of the most progressive voting records in the senate. If that is your enemy, then how are you ever going to build a coalition? Its just pie in the sky nihilistic bitching.

That voting record measurement is worthless bullshit because it just follows the party line. Good for Kamala, she's very faithful to the party.

So what's the problem? A party line voter is one of the most progressive voters.

Kamala votes with Bernie 92% of the time. That 8% is the difference between a progressive icon and a centrist?
