Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

2 more in the 6'3" to 6'7" range....Ward is the higher rated plus, already has an offer from us...

Coaches can now comment on who they're recruiting? When did that change?

I think it's just a poorly constructed sentence and means that Chandler told @Stockrisers. I wouldn't think Forbes would normally be talking to people about who he's meeting with.

Poorly worded tweets? I'm shocked, shocked. That does make sense.

The 2020-21 season will not count towards eligibility for winter sports per the NCAA. This should increase the probability that Carter Whitt will play for the Deacs this season.

that sets up an interesting situation with our scholarship count as Jalen Johnson, Ian Dubose, and Jonah Antonio now could conceivably come back next year but we have added at least 3 and probably 4 or 5 freshmen for next year. Will be interesting to see who wants to come back and who is encouraged to move onto the next part of their life.

Has anybody heard how the NCAA will handle scholarship limits next year? It would really mess up recruiting if the limits are kept in place.

It will mess up a lot more than just scholarships and recruiting. My brother is playing division one soccer coming in as a freshman next fall. His conference isn't playing this season and there will presumably be some senior players coming back, though I assume many will choose to graduate with their class since they have other stuff to worry about career wise. Even if the scholarships limits are done in a way where players returning that wouldn't have previously been eligible do not count against the scholarship count, it will seriously effect the prospects of playing time for people like my brother for his entire four years, as the class before him will essentially be the same as his class eligibility wise.

Sounds like there will be something of a "pig in a python" situation as the 2020 and 2021 classes will have completely concurrent eligibility. It will take until 2025 for this to work its way through the system.

I would be surprised if even with special Covid rules that the NCAA would allow grad transfers to play another year if they are done with school.

Or maybe a second transfer for them - one year at Wake and then on to somewhere else? The portal may be very crowded next Spring.

Don't think the NCAA is increasing scholarship limits for Fall or Winter Sports; among other reasons, athletic departments don't have the money to take on additional ships. Heading into the next academic year, there is going to be a massive glut of players with eligibility and not enough spots. Add to the fact that the NCAA is on the verge of adopting the free one time transfer rule, and there will be more transfers and roster turnover this Spring/Summer than ever in every Fall and Winter sport, but particularly in basketball and football.

Yeah, if you're a non-producing junior or senior in a revenue producing sport who got a free ride for three semesters during the pandemic, don't expect the school to magically offer you more free education so you can sit on the bench for another year, even if rosters are expanded.

I have real concerns about how much of a mess this will become... But I find solace in the fact that it is going to be a mess for everyone.

McGowans dropping top-5 Monday.

My hopes are the Deacs are on it and the blue bloods are not...Lofty wish

You know the Goats will be there......even though they just reached out.
