NFL 2020-2021 Season Superbowl LV: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, QB Tom Brady Champs!

It's surprising, but not shocking -- 42 is a lot of points for an NFL game (only four times has a team scored 42+ this season) and I would imagine 16 was much less common before the XP got moved

You aren't wrong, BUT... Every score between 17-16 and 49-16 has now been hit at least once, except for 39-16.

totally kinda related train of thought here re: firsts and football, but every single time I watch a non-Wake college football game I see a last name I've never seen before in my life

Interesting chart. I don't see the 4 point winning team score column filling in.

The one point losing team score is also unlikely. I am not sure I can even visualize a one point safety on a PAT attempt. Wrong way run with a fumbled snap, by a guy who outruns his team mates, maybe?

Gonna need Birdman to weigh in on Eagles vs Ravens. Bird vs bird. Who wins?

Not Birdman, but my Ravens likely will. Philly is missing 4 of its top 6 O-linemen and a couple of WRs. I get tired of all the Wentz criticism. When you're missing half your OL and WRs, you're gonna struggle. Fletcher Cox is going to have to have a huge game to keep them in the game - and he could because our interior OL has struggled. Lost in all the Wentz criticism is that LJ8 has struggled this year as well. Losing Yanda has hurt the OL, but I also think defenses have caught up to him to an extent. He likes to throw to Brown and Andrews and doesn't have that kind of rapport with our other WRs. He also prefers throwing to the middle of the field. So defenses have been focusing on Brown and Andrews and clogging the middle and inviting to throw more to the margins. He's also been nicked up and hasn't run as much the last couple of weeks. Could be a good game to take the under 46.5 unless the Ravens offense really breaks out.

Just saw in the box that JB3 had an INT... Nice! Also has 4 tackles and a PD. Anybody see the play?

NFL PI officiating is such trash

It is. Way too much hand fighting on both sides. Defense gets away with too much 90% of the time, then gets flagged for something ticky-tack. It would be difficult explaining NFL PI to a person new to the sport.

It should also be a 10 or 15-yard penalty instead of a spot foul. A 50-yeard penalty is idiotic, especially when it's a 50/50 ball to begin with.

"It" is already a 15-yard penalty. Defensive holding should be used more liberally and PI should be reserved for the most egregious contact, kind of like a clear path foul in the NBA.

In the NFL, defensive PI is a spot foul plus automatic first down. In addition, a personal foul can be assessed, which is added on. In college the penalty is the spot of the foul up to 15 yards. Beyond 15 yards, it is just 15 yards.

Offensive PI is 10 yards from previous spot in both college and NFL.

Defensive holding gives the offense 5 yards and an automatic first down in the NFL. In college, it is 10 yards and a first down.

Maybe the NFL needs a lesser penalty that is say 10 or 15 yards from previous spot for most of what is now "Pass Interference" with, as you suggested the current pass interference being reserved for the "clear path" fouls.

Cardinals kicking our ass but I really am not convinced with Murray.

Sucks with intermediate throws and his deep throws are pretty poor too - the bomb to Kirk was more thanks to the WR than Murray's effort. Combined with his two pathetic deep field efforts to #17 earlier.

Cowboys suck, no doubt. But I see Arizona winning a WC spot and crashing out 1st weekend in the playoffs.

Agree that Murray isn't the best passer, and that it will likely be a problem against better competition.

And holy shit are the Cowboys terrible without Dak. I've always been of the opinion that Dalton was a decent NFL QB saddled with a shitty offense in Cincy... But he's either old or just shitty because he has plenty of weapons in Dallas and still looked like absolute dogshit last night. Can't imagine Jerruh is going to stand idly by the rest of the season while Dalton sucks. Especially when the NFC East is dumpster fire.

Who knows, dv7, that WC matchup for Arizona could be against this shitty Dallas team... So maybe they don't crash out right away.

Dallas, like Philly, has a bunch of guys playing O-line who need name tags on the front of their jersies as well as the back.
