Check out the tax breaks. That might help with your decision.

Should I install solar panels on my house? Just watch Richard Attenborough’s Netflix movie and want to do my part.

I love my electric car. There are a lot of really good ones coming out in the next year or so too.

We took the plunge after watching that movie in November and are getting them installed next month.

How do you deal with road trips in an electric car? I’m on an wait list for the Ford Escape plug-in hybrid which gives you ~30 miles solely off the battery then switches to a hybrid engine.

I haven’t taken it on any super long trips yet, but the website/app A Better Route Planner is invaluable. It’ll tell you where to stop to charge and how long you need to charge to get to your destination.

Your standard gas station will be adding EV DCFCs (direct current fast chargers)... The ones along major highways will be the first to do it (for precisely this reason).

Yeah, there are several Sheetz that have chargers. Also some at Walmart parking lots right off the highway.

can you use the Tesla chargers on any car? I know they have some at the outlets which are right off 26 and 40.

How long does it take to charge?

Seriously. I don't have time to sit at a gas station in Emporia, VA in the dark waiting for my glorified golf cart to recharge so I can make it the rest of the way to Williamsburg with my wife and family so we can ride the Loch Ness Monster the next morning.

There are adapters you can buy to use the Level 2 Tesla chargers, but the destination chargers which are faster only work with Tesla’s.

And I'm sleepeating again. Time to schedule an appointment with the doctor.

Well, considering over 90% of your charging will be at your home (or office)... It's really only on long trips that this becomes an issue. And is it really an issue with your wife and family? My kids want to stop to pee all the damn time whenever we take a road trip.

NOTE: I don't own an EV and I have no plans to purchase one anytime soon.

Just mapped out that route. A Better Route planner recommends stopping for a 44 minute charge in Henderson, not Emporia.

Happy to help!!

15-30 minutes is a good ballpark to get you to 80-100% of a charge.

Take a piss and eat a slim jim. And then do some other stuff for the other 14-29 minutes.

Yep. Don’t need to charge all the way to 100%. You can get most places with only charging to 60 or 80
